Interesting research from Norway showing that referees unintentionally bias better teams, explained by social impact theory. Possibly explains why higher placed teams get the favourable end of incorrect ref decisions in the NRL, ala Roosters last night.

They argue that this has a bigger impact than pressure from home crowds.
