Vice Captain

vice captain doesnt mean a lot these days, but it's still a tag that makes benji who he is in our team

benji is too big a name to be dropped and his form this year has only gotten worse imo. i think the vice captain tag should be removed from him and given it to blair/fulton in order to give him a wake up call.

he is still our best option attack-wise and we need him at his best to get close to winning against the top sides.

Unfortunately Benji has reached his comfort zone and seems quite happy to stay there. Tim Sheens used to encourage, with success, players to get out of their comfort zone. I wonder what would have happened if it was Benji and not Farah who was taken off half way through the game off last week. It would take a brave coach.

I agree benji needs less pressure/responsibility to run around at his best… Particularly in he and faz giving miller his chance to steer the side... But Blair as vc...???! Really..?? I still don't know y Blair is even starting each week. I'm with ya on Fulton tho, he has been and still is an amazing tiger.

blair is still a quality player and imo eventually will hit the form we paid him for (maybe even last year of contract), plus he's stil only 25/26? premiership experience, learning from smith/bellamy etc.

also, newtown… can you give examples of sheens taking players out of their comfort zone? do you mean position vise or performance vice?

Make Farrah Captain and Vice Captain. Puts in the effort and carries all the weight on his shoulders.

If Rowdy was at his blinding best he'd make a great VC, unfortunately the form hasn't been there this year. The other obvious choice is Anasta, but poor form (not really his fault, playing out of position IMO), plus has only been there for 4 games.

I do remember that a few years ago Wests Tigers were beaten something like 52 to 4 by Souths at the SCG. The following weekend WT had a bye and Sheens took the team away to a retreat at the south coast. During this weekend the players (all of them not just the seniors) were encouraged to step out of their comfort zones and openly discuss the issues which they saw as holding them and the club back. If I am correct Wests Tigers did not lose another match in the following six weeks or so.

The old Kiama road trip has been the catalyst for us a number of times in recent years I reckon.

Correct, yet Benj seems to want responsibility and control, won't let Milky take the pressure off for him.
