FORMER Wests Tigers skipper Brett Hodgson has rejected the chance to stay with Huddersfield and agreed to a two-year deal with Super League club Warrington.
Hodgson, the reigning Man of Steel, comes off contract with Huddersfield in October and has rejected the Giants' offer of a 12-month extension to instead link up with coach Tony Smith at Warrington from the start of next season.

"I would have loved to have stayed if at all possible but things just didn't work out how I would have wished," the 32-year-old said.

Hodgson, who is currently sidelined with a thigh strain, has scored 260 points in 29 appearances for the Giants since joining them from the Tigers 18 months ago.

An NRL premiership winner with the Tigers, Hodgson made six State of Origin appearances for NSW and last year became only the fourth Australian to win the ''Man of Steel'' award for player of the year after a remarkable debut season in Super League.

"I'm excited about the signing and surprised to get a chance for someone of his calibre to join us," Smith said.

"Having coached Brett many many years ago at Parramatta, I know his capabilities and his knowledge and how he is able to pass that on to young people.

"I look forward to working with and learning off Brett as well."

By the end of this season he will have only played half of the season through injury, he has been out with 3 seperate problems so far this year, and is again out for 4 weeks. Prehaps his body has had it and that why we only offered him 1 more year.

Hodgo deserves as many good paydays as he can possibly get, he's earned it.
What a champ!

Absolutely …...and why the Giants didn't offer the MAN another 2 years , instead of just one, so he can finish his career with his mates, is beyond me.....Go you good thing, and hoping he has no more injuries, as he is going to be enough pains come those winter months in his retirement
