We could be on the top of the comp

Thanks to the Titans beating Melbourne if we win well enough we can go to the top of the NRL after this round. Do you think that the Titans beating Melbourne is going to pump the boys up?

So, it's better to have a lead early in the season rather than trying to catch up to the frontrunners like we have had to do 9 out of 10 seasons so far. The only one we didn't was the first one when instead, we just slid out of the contention. Being on top of the comp in round 5 would be unprecedented for us and I think it will do us the world of good.

Will be good for a change for the WT to be sitting comfortably near the front runners of the competition during the first 10 rounds or so.This can allow for a mid or late season slump/injury toll etc. and still put them in good stead for making the play-offs.
In recent years WT have dropped a few "should win" matches at the start of the season which has proven very costly later in the year. So every win is important in that regards, especially matches won on the road at away venues.
Falling behind on the leaderboard early can have a snowball effect which can put pressure on the team to play "catch up".
2010 is also a year likely where WT will have a few more candidates for representative honours during the Origin period, so it is vital WT notch up as many wins they can early. So April premierships mean everything for the WT..

Last nights results shouldnt have any impact on the way the team prepares and plays tonight. If it does it will be of a detrimental effect and just add additional pressure on the team

Before this round we were equal second.
After this round we may be first.

Doesnt make a shred of difference, what happened last year is of no consequence and rep maybes & possiblys are exactly the same as supsensions, injuries & dud ref calls…you cannot take it into acct because they are factors out of your control.

Second, first ...third...not much difference now.
Means bugger all.

That's right. I will be very happy for the Tigers to be sitting on 14 points by the time Round 9 (our first Bye), hence 16 points going into Round 10 game against Souths.
Rd 5 Cowboys
Rd 6 Bulldogs @ ANZ
Rd 7 Panthers @ CUA
Rd 8 Roosters @ CSS… Are difficult games to win, but more achieveable than the back half of the season games.
With the Wests Tigers getting their second Bye in Round 14 it's going to be tough on our players to notch up catch up wins , come Rd 22 we play Souths @ ANZ..tough
Rd 23 Panthers @ CSS...
Rd 24 Eels @ Parramatta...strong finishes
Rd 25 Storm @ Leichhardt...Enough said, but at least Daine can't stuff it up this time
Rd 26 Titans @ Skilled....Fortress Sunshine

Hence CT is spot on , give mr a great start any day, and let's hope our team secures it's 13th win by beating the Dragons @ Jubilee Oval in Round 16 😛ray:

id like it if we were in the top 6 all year so yes this is a big game in the scheme of things, the tigers of old id say we arent expected to win, but i we are serious and a genuine top 4 team we should beat the cowboys because they are travelling awfully at the moment. their form line against the teams they have played against doesnt read well

yes it would be nice to be on top of the comp, after this round.
getting early wins on the board leads to confidence.
rather have the best defence record in the comp, no injured players.

We just need to win all the games we can. We've had a good start. With 2 byes in hand winning 9 of our remaining 20 games will see us with 28 points, usually enough for 8th. I know that our ambitions are much higher than 8th place but with all of the Leichhardt and Campbelltown games in the bank we really should be able to build on the start we have had and be well placed by September. After this week we have already finished two tough away trips (Canberra and Townsville) If we have won more than we have lost heading into that first bye we should be well on track. Position on the ladder shouldn't matter too much at this stage. Just concentrating on what we do each week is important at present.

Spot on. Leading from the front always boosts confidence and can bring good form with it. Being in front of any team leading up until the clash can always put some sort of doubt and make them think about who they will be up against. So also a good psychological advantage to go with it.

April premierships are important especially for us for the fact it builds confidence within the team. Its something we havent had for years. Good teams always do it,why shouldnt we?

And not to forget that it can also make a difference to crowd turnouts to upcoming matches, which can also boost the team to catapult their confidence even further. Leading from the front has several massive advantages.

this year is the first year in WTs history we SHOULD be heavily effected come rep season.

Farah, Lawrence and Galloway would all be surely in the nsw team, whilst QLDs backline injuries mean Tuqiri will probably be picked.

Then City/Country will probably feature an absolute heap of Tigers with Farah, Lawrence, Galloway, Gibbs, Heighington, Moltzen, Ryan and Fulton all chances of playing.

Early wins are very important as we could be playing with some real second string teams come middle of the season.
