We got it wrong - NRL

Well just looked at the Raiders vs Warriors game with a passing glance,noticed marker not standing square at the play the ball and guess what?no penalty blown,anyone that doesn’t think refs influence the outcome of games is obviously a referee.

You're right there was no guarantee that we go on to win, but with only 3 minutes remaining, I'm fairly certain it would've ended up a draw after the extra time. I guess we'll never know.

Honestly, I would've loved to come away with just one point after that effort from the boys than the big fat zero we ended up with, because of an unfair decision completely out of the players control. Pretty sure the team would agree with me.

The NRL's apology and acknowledgement that it was a mistake is cold comfort, unless they actually do something to rectify it and give us a competition point. Fat chance that ever happening!

If I was the tigers would take them on.

In the AFL they made a bad call late and the team that lost was given equal points post after the AFL confirmed it made a mistake. The other team kept their points as well.

Only fair.
 
Hate extra time, but as I said yesterday I love to see all refs police extra time the same way they police the first 80, but if they make a call it has to be right and if it’s wrong than it’s off to reserve grade for a week or two

Sounds good….Butif the differential was brought in, it would be more of a joke than it is now ,as the defending side would know that the attackers could not kick a goal no matter how much they infringe,it only takes the Refs to be consistent and referee the last minute as they do in the first minute.

I’d like them to use the sin bin a lot more to stop the holding down now when a team is attacking inside the defences 20,
Any changes has to come from Coaches and when they start losing games regularly they’ll get the message and stop players from infringing

With golden point I would like to see that after 80 mins both teams have earns 1 competition point,play the extra time and if there is a winner that team then earns an extra competition point or 2points for the entire match while the other team still walks away with 1 point.
The current system is unfair and unjust,look at the effort that was put in last night by both teams,why should a team end up with zero points after 80 minutes when they have not been defeated in that period.?In comparison for example Parra put in a piss poor display last week and copped a hiding and deserved zero points,I am not convinced the WT deserved the same amount of zero points yesterday after their effort.

A few people have mentioned this but how would it would? It’s not a foul in the act of scoring so you would have to give the penalty nullifiing the field goal. You then have the situation where if he misses the goal we lose.

It is an interesting thought experiment, if Brooks misses the FG would we have had a higher chance of getting the penalty? I'm fairly sure, without checking it, that the refs watched Milford's FG attempt before penalising Rochow.

Rubbish, should Masters be dropped for missing his shot at goal? They admitted they made a mistake which is more than would have happened in the past. Time to move on
