We need a halfback.

Don't know if we need to be desperate for a 7\. If these guys play to their potential they're easily good enough to win the comp!

The bulldogs r definitely capable of winning the gf this year and they have had Kris Keating/josh Reynolds. **If they can win it with them y could we not win it with benji Marshall/Curtis siro?**

Consistency

I would honestly say as individuals benji is better than the dogs halves and Curtis is/will be atleast as good if not better than them..

Will just take time

No time left, weve buggered round for 3/4 of the season

Didn't mean this year, but certainly next (still can do it this year if they get going now tho), u said consistency, I said they're capable…
They r, they are as good if not better than dogs halves.. Dogs having a dream run of form, there is one very year..

Yeh at the end of the day its actions speak louder than words, and we rarely act…only half the time

That aside, we have better halves than the dogs… I believe we do act, if u took the players we have had out this year out of any other team they may not even be in the 8, we r still in a good position, the effort is always there and I believe they can start a charge this week

I think you need to dip the rose tinted glasses….a footy team is much more than just halves, look at their forwards, then look at ours.

Oh yeh, you have that ''take the players weve lost thru the year'' ace up your sleeve.

Newsflash: Injuries are a factor in this game, all teams suffer them.

Would take Robson or Walsh in a heartbeat. Both have solid kicking games, will take the line on, relatively decent in defence and have a good pass.

That said, it will not happen. We won't sign a bona fide half whilst Marshall is at the club, and therein lies the problem. What happens if we lost Marshall for a season? The lack of genuine halves depth is alarming. Sironen's future lies at lock or the second row, and we're left with two legitimate five eighths in Marshall and Moltzen and a U20's halfback who isn't given free reign to play his game. We're lucky that the halves is the only spot we're not getting hammered with injuries otherwise we'd be truly stuffed.

I agree Bogan.

I don't agree with the comments that Benji overides everything and everyone, Lui was given a fair amount of responsibility.

The young blokes mentioned may not even get past 20's…dont count ur chickens

Benji is of a ''maturity'' or more appropriately, a senior player now inasmuch that he smothers anyone else in the halves with him nowadays.......whenPrince was here, Scotty had seniority over him.

What we are seeing will NOT change, no matter whos at 7...what with Benjis ego and Sheens' stubbornness.

Get used to it

correct you may be but untill they are tried in time you never never know , dont rush them but give them time all the top players were juniors once

This is definitely without precedent, at Tigers the 2 best players control the game. Go figure

I know. I'm struggling to figure out why this is a problem.

Can someone please explain to me why we aren't going out and breaking the bank for Thurston? We already have a formidable forward pack and just need a top half to make our back line hit holes. Like him or not, Thurston is clearly the best half in the game right now, if not overall player (and in many opinions has been so for some time).
We obviously have the cash to spend (see Lewis saga) so why wouldn't we go for the best? Let's make Thurston priority number one!

I'm sure the response will be more of this "future, future" talk. Seriously, when will this quit? We have been reeling since the loss of Prince and frankly if we haven't found any half in our junior clubs in over 5 years (bar Lui) then I have little faith that we are going to unearth one between now and round one next year, or 2014 for that matter. Sirro is good, but he doesn't strike fear (yet).

I also don't agree with the argument that the money could be better spent elsewhere, like Prop or Centre. The halves are the most important positions, period.

Just imagine our spine: Teddy, Benji, JT, Farah. Nightmares for opposing teams. Love it.

For one, I believe Penrith would be able and prepared to throw a tonne of money at Thurston, whilst we would probably not be able to halve their offer. That is why.

I don't buy into that argument.
If Penrith have so much money then they would have kept Lewis. Don't tell me he would have knocked back stupid money just to leave out of spite. They had a lovers tiff but if they would have opened the chequebook he would have rekindled his love and would have stayed. While they obviously have a lot of money to spend now, it is clear that so do we. We should be prepared to break the bank for Thurston. Players like him do not come around often.

Thurston will stay at the Cowboys. His dollar value in regard to 3rd party sponsors would be far greater there. They will pay anything to keep him.

We don't need a complete half back - we need a solid tackler with a kicking game, that's it. We have creativity coming out of our ears with Benji and Robbie. Each of them is as creative as anybody in the NRL, and we have both of them. We don't need Thurston.

Does anyone agree with me?
People saying No to Thurston baffles me.
Wouldn't we all want to see the best half directing traffic at the Tigers?

The best half in the world is nullified without forwards going forward.
I think we're short a prop….just my 2 bobs worth

Ok, so for arguments sake let's say Matt Scott is the best prop going around. If it was a choice between him and JT would you take Scott?

Yeh probably…...its never that cut and dried though....and a club should have the foresight to see what they need and not be in a position to need two spots/positions but can only fill one....
But then again its WTs were talking about, a club that lost 4 forwards last year only to replace them with 2.

Not that simple

The person has to be able to command the respect of both Benji and Robbie that when he wants the ball he gets the ball no questions asked

I think that is the problem and why many quality 7's would be relunctant to come join us
