We don't need a complete half back - we need a solid tackler with a kicking game, that's it. We have creativity coming out of our ears with Benji and Robbie.

Mitchell Pearce.

Not that simple

The person has to be able to command the respect of both Benji and Robbie that when he wants the ball he gets the ball no questions asked

I think that is the problem and why many quality 7's would be relunctant to come join us

Pearce is the NSW halfback, Farah is the NSW hooker. They've trained together in NSW camp. Pearce would definitely be able to command respect from Farah.

If a STATE OF ORIGIN halfback does not have enough authority, then we should just stop looking for a halfback altogether

As i was about to say i think Matt Scott would be a better signing for us then Thurston as i think we need a prop, but if we could get a half what would be wrong with Reynolds from Souths & he is only young & would come cheaper them Thurston.

Point I was making (and I totally agree with you ) that the problem is that if they don't gel who is going to cop the blame and their are easier options for the top line players

I think it is more the personalities involved more than anything

To try and explain what I mean is if you had Smith at hooker and Thurston at 6 you would have less dramas finding a 7 for them than you do for Farah at 9 and Benji at 6 as they play a diferent style and a are a lot calmer \relaxed

Well Mitchell Pearce is going to ask for a realese the week comming up since we missed out on Luke Lewis i think we are going to make a play for Pearce.

Yeah, I could find better ways to spend the 500-600 odd thousand he'd be asking for. Could pick up a decent half and a prop for that kind of coin.

So how do you know that Pearce is going to ask for a release and we are going to make a play for him ?

Just watching the Roosters v Panthers game and I must admit I was keen on Pearce, but gee his defence is Lui like in this game. So if we do make a play he had better come cheap, no way is he worth 500K or whatever people are talkng about, maybe 300K at max and let him prove himself.

DT Article - Here it is guys

**Roosters rocked by rift between Mitchell Pearce and Brian Smith
James Hooper - The Sunday Telegraph
July 22, 2012 12:00AM**

THE relationship between Sydney Roosters coach Brian Smith and star halfback Mitchell Pearce has deteriorated to the point where the pair did not speak on game day last Monday.

As the Roosters travel to Penrith today amid rumblings of disharmony in the playing ranks, The Sunday Telegraph understands Pearce is poised to ask for a release this week.

If a picture tells a thousand words, then the image of Smith cutting a solitary figure at Roosters training at Moore Park last Friday summed up the club's plight this season.

The Roosters are a long way off being anywhere near on the same page as Smith's penchant for altering the club's style of attack on a weekly basis has worn thin.

Smith appeared to be in his own world last Friday as he paced up and down the sideline - at times with his back turned to the team - with the Roosters being watched by assistant coach Matt Elliott.

**His standoff with Pearce six days ago came following revelations the NSW Origin halfback wanted a release with one season to run on his contract. And he's not the only player.**

With Ricky Stuart set to return to the NRL coaching ranks and NSW Origin halves partner Todd Carney urging Pearce to join him at Cronulla, there are options if the Roosters are prepared to let Pearce go.

**"If we start dancing and shadow boxing at all the stuff in the media then we'll just go around in circles," Roosters chief executive Steve Noyce said. "Mitchell hasn't asked for a release, he's got the rest of this season and another year to go on his contract. I, like everyone else at the club, sees Mitchell as part of the long-term future of the Roosters."**
**But The Sunday Telegraph understands the working relationship between Smith and Pearce is at breaking point - it's almost to the point where one has to go.**

I cut out the rest

I could hack a Spine with….

1 Tedesco
6 Marshall
7 Pearce
9 Farah
13 Siro (forgood measure)

dragons or bulldogs is what was said on 2gb about 1/2 hour ago , and asking for a release early this week , no mention of tigers chasing him ,, one thing is for sure if he goes to the dogs , we need there bean crunchers

Mate, this happens wherever Smith goes! The guy has caused so much division in every club he has coached. I think it's time he took a long hard look at himself and asked "what am I doing wrong here?"

On Pearce, he is not the best halfback that's for sure, but he combines well with Farah - on that basis alone, I'd sign him.

Heard Pearce after the game on the ABC and he came across realy po'd when Mascord asked him about a possible release FWIW

it could have been

6\. Benji
7\. DCE

or

6\. Benji
7\. Cronk

or

6\. Benji
7\. Wallace

but we currently have on of the worst recrutment managers in the comp…

When were we ever in the market for the above mentioned halfbacks?

We started the season premiership favourites, that indicates many thought we were had a pretty good squad, cleary not the worst recruitment managers in the comp.
