Hey everyone,

I'm new here, so glad to see that a site like this is going for our team.

I've been a huge Tigers supporter for a number of years now since '04, I never was really into league and I was taken to a game and loved it. I had been edged into going for the Tigers from my girlfriend and her sisters but I really enjoyed watching them for their attacking flair and class.

One thing I really am upset about and have been for a little while is everyone being quiet. That's right, quiet. We often get a small cheer of "Tigers" when we get a scrum at the oppositions 20, but that gets silenced once the opps fans start chanting over us. One example is last year in the prelim final against the Dragons. The stadium was full of red and white, they obviously have a bigger fan base fair enough, but that doesnt mean jack. It shouldve been a reason to get up even more and cheer our boys on. I clearly remember we were winning 12-6 and we had some good chances to capitalise, our cry of "Tigers" was so soft and faint, it was ridiculous. I got up on my chair and looked back at all our fans and raised my arms up in the air to get them to start chanting…nothing. Everyone looked at me as if I was some kind of fool.
Last Sunday I remember we had numerous chances to score and you'd hear the tigers chant every so often but nothing to compete with the Roosters. They silenced us and they silenced our team.

Now, I study in Orange, and I came down for nearly every single game last year to cry my lungs out for our team. Im just asking ppl to get out there and scream!!!! We need to establish a more fanatical fan base. The WTF (Wests Tigers Fanatics) needs to come out again, we need huge banners to compete with the likes of Roosters, Souths, Dragons, Bulldogs fans.

My girlfriend and her sisters have the big banners im sure some of you would have seen here or there: :sign:
"Farah on Fire"
"Holler for a Marshall"
"Live a Lote Life"
"Benji Ur our Savvy-our"
We carry these to every game almost every week and scream our lungs out. We just want to compete with the other teams and let our team know that we're right behind them.

Lets get LOUD and support our team, wherever it is, Leichhardt, SFS, Campbelltown and most importantly at AWAY games. Nothing angers me more than hearing Roosters or Bulldogs for 80mins at their home games.

This is OUR year, and though it may not seem it in the sense of injuries, we need to MAKE it our year. The young guns will stand up and do their job, just as Mitch Brown did his. We've got some good news about Farah and Ellis now so lets get behind them and lose our voices. And at the end we can sit there and say we tried, whether we succeed or not.

Cheers,
Mike

Top post, dont worry about those idiots giving you fool looks when you ask for support. They are followers and not leaders.they are at a footy game and not a funeral keep being the leader you are and cheer the tigers on and the followers will follow.

Well said Mike, I like your spirit and support for our team. The supporters do get behind the team, in terms of cheering, at Leichhardt and Campbelltown where the grounds are smaller and the crowd is predominantly Wests Tigers. The SFS isn't as easy due to its size and the size of the opposition crowd as well. I too was surprised by the noise the easts supporters made last weekend I haven't seen that many of them cheering as one before. Hopefully tomorrow night will be our turn.

Well I'll be going to the Tigers game at Skilled Park next week and cheering myself silly. Hopefully i can go to another game during the year down in sydney.

I brought this up last year after going to some brisbane roar 'fitba' games and seeing the small amount of people make alot of noise.

Im sure the tigers fans will get up tomorrow night

Cant Wait.

Hi Mike, I was sitting two rows behind you on Sunday and was very impressed with your girlfriend and her sisters' banners and enthusiasm. We need more of it! You're right, our fans aren't the loudest. IMO, if you don't go home with a dodgy voice, you just weren't cheering or yelling loud enough!

FIRE UP WESTS TIGERS FANS!

Hey Mike, I like you already - welcome to the forum!

I remember sitting at Leichhardt Oval once, as a magpie supporter, not too long before the merger and the Tigers chant started up. Well, I had never heard anything like it in all my years of going to games - it was absolutely deafening! I wonder where all those vocal Tigers fans are now, especially considering we now have the Wests contingent on board, as well.

By the way, your girlfriend and her family are smart people winning you over to support the Tigers :stuck_out_tongue:

Mike…..love it....loved the banners last week too...

I encourage every forum Member to atten 'live' Wests Tiger Games if they can a scream YA GUTS OUT... :sign:

Hey guys,

Good points. I have been going to the sydney fc games at sfs. and the crowds are pooor around 7,000 and they seem to be louder. I know its a different sport. but it does really geee the players up.

I'll be cheerin the boys on tonite.

Lets go TIGZZZZZZZZ

Yes you really remember it when the crowd is loud . I will never forget the first Origin when they called Big Artie's name out and he ran on . Even typing now a get a lump in the throat .Stories have said that the cheer was heard 3 suburbs away that night .Lets make that sort of noise .

Great post Mike cant agree more
At the canberra game in campbeltown i couldnt believe how quiet we were for most of the game &
what ever happened to the jungle?
Are they dead already?

It's all well and good to talk about being louder, but have/did any of you guys actually go and join the Jungle/WTF to help out?

Back in 06/07 we had a lot of trouble getting going because no one showed up (plus being abused by our own fans, but that's a different story)

A bit like the chicken and the egg…

There was at least one Roosters fan last weekend that, the one on my right, who went home with my screams of C'mon Tigers ringing in his ear. He reckons I was doing it deliberatly

Good post Mike…agred.

where you at the 05 semi v dragons? I couldnt speak for a week after that. every time a dragoons chat started we drowned them out. That was massive.

Theres only been a couple of games since when I heard strong chanting.

Hi Mike,

Great to hear your passion in your post. I thought I was the only person that felt that way at games. I'm just like u, and normally rock upto work on Monday without a voice. I crave for the game, especially at liechhardt or campbletown, where the whole stadium screams them selves hoarse. I actually bumped into your sister and her friend last night and will definately look to sit near u guys at the next home games. Last night me and my mate were trying to get the supporters going but they seriously sat their like they were at church on a Sunday!! I know people go to just watch the games, but I seriously think that the players lift when they hear it. Keep up the passion bud.
