We should have kept Paul Momirovski.

You can't say that without saying "we shouldn't have signed Laurie for this year".

I'm very happy with that trade. Momirovski's hands are as bad as Talau's.

Yes, surprisingly, there were quite a few posters who thought the swap was a great idea. The same who thought Moma was not rated in our top 4 centres, justifying the strong desire for change, believing that any change has the opportunity of bringing some kind of overall improvement. For those, I guess the hindsight advantage is kicking in?
Moma didn’t want to go as I recall?

Sometimes the best best option is under our noses all along. Tamou for Eisenhuth, Mcintyre for Offa, Momorovski for Bj, the list goes on. It isnt working for us. The quicker this club starts giving our own a crack and is patient with them the better we will be. Everyone wanted Seyfarth gone this time last year but what do ya know - he is getting better each week and more importantly he wants to be here for the right reasons at half the price.

Offa is better than McIntyre, Tamou and the Huth are a push, Momo would have been better than BJ (in hindsight) but IMO no better than Talau/Kepaoa and Laurie isa massive benefit. Not a strong argument.

I agree mate

Unequivocally the right decision at the time.

Daine has now effectively played a (near) full season of first grade as a starting fullback.

At Penrith, he would have been limited to single games, possibly on the wing, if chosen at all and missed reserve grade time as well with the competition being cut short.

So, in hindsight, it appears to be the correct decision too. Particularly from the standpoint of establishing a long-term, key position player at our club.

So you think a starting centre in the side that is coming second in the comp is not good enough for us?

I think it is a strong argument. How much more did that cost us in the process. Last time i checked we are going backwards on the ladder and we would have to be on the first or second line of betting for the wooden spoon next year. Im not disputing Laurie isnt a good pick up (and price)- he has been good for us, its the way we go about it that is the problem. Out of curiosity, how much more is Offa on than what Mcintyre was. How much more would have Tamou cost us than Eisenhuth. All these swaps are costing us more for no return in my opinion.

It’s pretty simple really, we desperately needed a fullback and Riff wanted a outside back. If we kept Momo we had no real fullback, Also at the time we had Jet,BJ,AJ and Talau all candidates for the centre job. So it was a no brainer and I bet you they would make the same call again. You can put a stop gap player in the centre position but you can’t at fullback

I disagree about stop gap players at centre. Its the hardest position on the field to defend. We need defensive centres badly. How many have we burned through this year alone. Everyone keeps looking for strike in the centres but we won the comp with 2 defensive centres. Dont remember those guys having to much strike but they new how to tackle.

The point is coaches will always take a crap centre over a crap fullback. Also back in February people were confident that our centre strength was good and that they would perform well. Aj blew a knee, BJ OD on KFC, Jet could not turn back the clock and Tommy is still a kid with a few howlers left in his game. I say without Laurie this year we would be the spoon holders

Dont get me wrong, Momo would be first centre picked for us at the moment, but a team with Momo at 4 and Mbye at 1 is not stronger than our current team and I'd suggest that a team with a late season Talau and a fit Kepaoa in the centres with Laurie at 1 is much stronger.

I don’t disagree that our centre’s were terrible just like our backrow, but if you have a choice between a quality no1 or a quality centre ( given you are weak in both positions) you will go the no1 everyday. You can’t slot MCK into full back but you can into the centre. You might get some carnage, but you will get more with a sub standard no1

Who says Mbye had to play fullback. Douhie played there the year before and whilst not great went ok. Oh but hang on ,we played him in the centres too because we didnt have a decent one. So how much has all this cost again?

STEFANO UTOIKAMANU..

I have him in my top 3 players this year, probably nudged out of top spot due to his best form coming late in the season. Right now though he is our best player by far.
