Weakest Position

TIGERDAVIS

After reading the team lists and looking at the squad I was just wondering what you guys think is our weakest position at the moment and what me may struggle with over the coming season??
I would also just like to say that I am so excited for this season and can't wait to scream at the top of my lungs on Sunday! Go the Tigers!!

I'd say front row. There's very little depth. Last year we had solid starters, with suitable depth off the bench including a mix of workers (Payten, Woods) and impact players like Fifita. Losing Payten, Gibbs and Fifita in the one go is a big hit. Even with the bigger depth we had last year we still struggled, and I definitely think our depth there will be tested this year.

Due to the very nature of what front rowers do, they're more prone to injuries and rarely make it through a whole year having played every game. I hope Sheens doesn't rotate Blair and/or Ellis through there to cover injuries and really hoping blokes like Junior Moors can step up.

Pretty thin in the front-row i think. If Woods and Galloway get injured we don't have a lot of back-up. I'm not sold on Groat just yet. I'm 1 of the few who'd rather we kept Fifita over Groat. Groat has a pretty poor work-rate which hopefully improves this yr. I can see Blair and Ellis playing there a bit this yr if we get a couple of injuries. If only Sheens would give Junior Moors another shot

I would have to say hooker as well..
Robbie tends to have a flat period around the 50-60 mark.. We need an impact player to cover him during this period so he can have a breather

Front row for sure. Hooker is curly because you literally can't replace Farah so you basically have to minimise the hookers impact, and we have any number of players who can fill a "low impact hooker" role. In the front row it doesn't take long before we're throwing in debutants or backrowers.

Front row.
But we don't need Willie Mason. There are some good prop prospects coming through reserve grade, including the injured Mundarra Weldon

Weakest position at the moment is the left wing IMO. I don't believe Utai should be there ahead of Brown at the moment, and the Tigers do look weak there without Tuqiri. The two players who possess the speed and strength to take advantage of overlaps are not yet ready for FG (Koroibete and Grant). Utai simply does not have the pace to go on with it out wide, especially playing outside a noted speedster in Lawrence.

With Willow here, we have a couple of better players with a more rounded skill set available to play left wing. Utai is a champion, but unfortunately we do have better that could play there.

I'd lean towards Frontrow as our weakest position purely on experience… However, I have confidence in our 2 starting Props to be comfortable enough that if no injuries occur, we will be able to compete with the other packs.

Tuqiri isn't even that fast tbh. We need to be looking towards Grant/Koroibete on each wing in 2013 imo. I'd love to have some pace on the wings for once. I can't remember having a winger actually capable of outrunning another winger since Mick Crockett left.
