Todays meeting does not really change much for 2013

- WT compete in NSW cup
- WSM compete in Bundy Cup

Both should be successful on field and financially viable to WT

The members of Wests Magpies FC vary in levels of passion and support.. Some of the them are jumping on the 'watch balmain crumble' band wagon and (unrealistically) wanting a WSM nrl return but the majority want the WSM brand to continue at non NRL (like newtown and norths) level to ensure the WSM club / identity doesn't evaporate in WT business (where the original Wests brand is hard to distinguish and certain people do not care or wish to preserve.

I understand that but the people involved need to look at the arc Newtown had to take to get to this point.

They played from Sydney Shield and built, they din't get given a feeder slot off the bat, they had to prove themselves and that they were capable.

I would suggest a similar path needs to be tread

Very confusing…

So, a 20% stakeholder of the Wests Group has decided it would like to enter a team into the NSW Cup for 2013 which it basically cant fund?

I wonder if anyone from this group has enquired with the NSWRL if they would be permitted to enter a team in the NSW Cup for 2013 and beyond before upsetting the major stakeholders of the Wests Group?

The vote was put up by one member using their constitutional right to have their say. The vote outcome (which was in favour of not supporting a WT nsw cup team) but only at 41 for not supporting & 8 for supporting will NOT change anything for the 2013 plans for WT or WSM.

WSM will continue in senior football in some form at no burden (financially or player wise) to WT. what the future holds beyond 2013 who knows.

Wests Group is united but there are some individuals are finding things hard to swallow. Majority of the magpie diehards are accepting reality and moving forward accordingly.

Lots of NRL teams have feeder teams with different names. Would calling the NSW Cup team the Wests Magpies be a good gesture, or would it just be seen as saying Tigers are better than Magpies?

Lots of NRL teams aren't joint ventures with the associating politics/issues. The way ahead is to have all the main teams playing under the WT names. Anything else just creates division. I've got no problem with the Magpies or Balmain running their own teams at whatever level they think they can manage but they can't expect the WT to provide the players… IMO anyway...

It could have been that arrangement (magpies to be sole feeder side to WT) but balmain would not accept it despite having no money to operate their own nsw cup team.

Many long winded threads and heated debate about this but it is not happening. WT want a concord based nsw cup team.

Teams like canberra who are linked to mounties and storm linked to cronulla are not concerned about distance. WT are the only club who seem to be - but there is a heap of politics behind it also.

Willow … I suspect from your editing efforts you come at the JV from the orange perspective.
Please correct me if I've misread this assumption.

If I'm correct however, let me just suggest that Woody Allen can tell Jewish jokes and everyone laughs heartedly. However if blue eyed, blond haired, Kurt Von Arian tells the very same jokes it's perceived as horribly anti- semetic and quite offensive ...

And just quitely, I'm fascinated by all the Balmain hardliners who queue up to kick the Magpies whenever a rear guard fight is muted.

Guess we can't all have ticker, eh ??? (hell that was playfully ambiguous for a Monday night)

Unless your a closet Magpie Willow ... Pull your head in !

So as I was saying before the MOD so rudely cut me off … Why do all the Balmain diehards feel the need to be so judgmental whenever the Magpies fight a rear guard action ... Stand and observe Orange people but please, know your place when this secret Fibro business is being discussed ... As Ali G would say, it's about RESPECT people.

I'm sorry Snodgrass, but with the greatest possible respect this is no longer the petty Wests v Balmain sniping.
This is the Wests dinosaurs showing complete DISrespect for the Wests Tigers.

As far as i'm concerned if this small number of muppets want to chose Western Suburbs over Wests Tigers then so be it. I hope they don;t let the door hit them on the backside on the way out.

This is not a comment against you Snodgrass, I neither know nor care which way or even if you voted for this. From what I remember your posts are not, and never have been attempts to divide the club I support.

Softlaw I understand what you are saying mate , but unless you have lost a side you have supported all of your life you shouldn't really judge

When Wests finally are put to sleep as a recognized NRL side (even in a minor role as the NSW Cup) will be a very sad day

Been there done that with my Wests Panthers in Brisbane and they were a successful side in the QRL Had won back to back premierships and made the GF the following year and were gone 4 years later

The only thing worse for me was the passing of family members No one should judge others feelings in this particular area

Softie, you said it, "small number of muppets". My gripe is that every time the "small number of muppets" raise their heads above the lip of the trench all these nervous nellie Balmain types (who in effect are no better) puff out their chests and over react. They actually end up legitimizing the battle these arch Magpies are waging. The more agro you blokes become, the harder these old muppet pies will charge.

There needs to be a lot of love in the room, not a whole bunch of self righteous preaching.

Softly softly … Softie. That's my recommended approach. Because the only way these "muppets" can get the required support to make a difference is if the Balmain side of things become so arrogantly critical that they begin to alienate moderate Magpies like me.

lol bit rich considering you can say that WT have shown the Pies complete disrespect in allowing them to be humiliated week in week out for the last two yrs and have treated them worse then a red-headed stepson

But i guess thats ok isn't it?

As a former Magpie supporter I for one minute will not be a party to the so called glee that many Magpie relics see as humorous the situation that Balmain our partner see themselves in. 13years ago if it wasn't for Balmain there would be no Wests anywhere now!!!!! Time for some on this forum to wake up to reality and have some sympathy for our half partner who is doing it tough!

Wests Tigers and Balmain officials chose to ignore Magpie supporters requests for a fair go for many years now, so it is no wonder they voted the way they did.

They are now reaping the seed they sowed and i for one have little sympathy towards Balmains hardships at the moment.

Not really good examples, as Canberra also have a few CRL groups near them as feeders as well.

Melbourne had to get rid of their NSW Cup team because they couldn't afford to keep it after the fine they copped for salary cap breaches. So as to enable the club to keep its fringe players, the Storm NSW Cup side was taken over by the Sharks with some rather unique structures in place, one being that Storm players could only play for the Melbourne NRL side and Sharks players could only play for the Sharks NRL Side. Other than that, the team is entirely Cronulla. Home ground, monies, sponsors etc etc.
