CAMPBELLTOWN Sports Stadium will be handed back to the city this week following the completion of $8 million of upgrades.
The work will make it one of the best facilities in the NRL, and local fans are hopeful it will entice Wests Tigers to play more than just a handful games in the region each year.
The upgrading included additional seating for 3685 people, new elevators in the western grandstand, disability seating, improved toilet, catering and media facilities, and a new portable electronic screen.
The stadium can now accommodate 20,000 fans, 13,500 of them seated.
Campbelltown Mayor Aaron Rule said the redevelopment ensured a Tigers/Roosters blockbuster on May 2.
“It’s going to be a fantastic occasion,” he predicted. “Campbelltown is welcoming a brand new football stadium and welcoming home the Tigers.”

Sports Minister Kate Ellis, Member for Werriwa Chris Hayes and Campbelltown Mayor Russell Matheson at Campbelltown Stadium.

They say the stadium can now fit 20,000 but it could already fit 21,000.
Remember in 2005 we got around 20,500 people against the Cowboys and there was still room for atleast another 500 people.
