Wests Tigers: 2020 round 1 predicted team

I still think Doueihi at fullback, Nofo and Thompson winger, BJ and Momo/Jennings centres.
Hooker is Walters/Grant, with Reynolds on the bench only if Walters is at hooker, otherwise another forward like Huth, Seyfarth, Packer or Clarke

If Mybe is out I think that is what we look like as well. If Mbye plays he will be in the centres.

1. Doueihi
2. Nof
3. Jennings/Mbye
4. BJ Leilua
5. CT

6. Marshall/Reynolds/Mbye
7. Brooks/Madden

8. Mikaele
9. Grant/Liddle/Mbye
10. Z. Mus
13. Elijah Taylor
12. LL
11. Garner

14. Aloiai
15. Twal
16. Clark
17. MCK/J. Rey

Seeming more and more likely to me that Mbye won’t be playing much hooker this year. Walters in an interview this morning talked like it was pretty much him and Reynolds battling it out for the position, Mbye probably only trained there when they weren’t sure if Reynolds could play or not.

Could mean Momirovski or Thompson might miss out if Mbye plays centre all year.

That really hasn't narrowed down the Round 1 predicted team much..only a week out..

I am so excited for round 1. I can’t wait to see who actually runs out for the team.

It’s totally ridiculous by the nrl that the swap deal hasn’t been finalised, only being 7 days out from rd 1 and 4 days from team selections.
Either way I hope we combine well as a team and put away the dragons.

IDK who actually reads this, just doing this exercise for a bit of fun.
1. Adam Douiehi - should be left at fullback for the entire season.
2. David Nofoaluma
3. Joseph Leilua
4. Robert Jennings - out for Momirovski or Mbye once back.
5. Corey Thompson - once Momirovski returns from injury, these two will fight it out for a spot.
6. Benji Marshall
7. Luke Brooks
8. Thomas Mikaele
9. Billy Walters - will lose his spot if we get Harry Grant.
10. Alex Twal
11. Luke Garner
12. Luciano Leilua
13. Josh Aloiai - I like him better on the bench, but Madge has indicated his intention to start him at lock.
14. Josh Reynolds
15. Elijah Taylor
16. Zane Musgrove
17. Michael Chee Kam

I actually don't like Reynolds on the bench, but we don't have an 80 minute hooker, so it has to be done. The only other option is to use Elijah Taylor to spell Walters for 30 mins and have Oliver Clark on the bench. But I there's no point using ET as a bench hooker.

I don't think we want any of our middle forwards to play more then 20 consecutive minutes, maybe Twal can play 30. That means you need 3 middle forwards on the bench.
I don't think moving Luci to the middle is a good idea, we want him to use his energy in attack. I would rather move Walters to the wing in defence if he needs a breather. Brooks and Benji often go to dummy half at the start of a set to give the hooker a break.

1 Adam Doueihi
2 David Nofoaluma
3 BJ Leilua
4 Paul Momirovski (Jennings if Momo is in Melbourne)
5 Corey Thompson
6 Benji Marshall
7 Luke Brooks
8 Alex Twal
9 Billy Walters
10 Zane Musgrove
11 Luke Garner
12 Luciano Leilua
13 Josh Aloiai

14 MCK
15 Thomas Mikaele
16 Oliver Clark
17 ET

Some creative thinking there with using the halves to relieve the hooker, I like it. Mixing it up like that, where then the hooker could be having a "breather", but actually then chimes in at second receiver and ignites something. Thomo or even Doueihi could dummy half for a play or two. Keep the opposition guessing.

Never looked more forward to a Tuesday in my life. Plenty of questions around the team. Cmon 4pm Tuesday

We are below par at DF and fullback but can overcome this. We aren't going to have a team full of internationals but won't have any weak links either with a balance on the RHS and LHS. Strong middle and the right sort of mindset.

May as well throw it in here but Packer has had toe surgery and will miss the first 6-8 weeks of the season.

I've been thinking that it would be better to have ET on the bench to replace Walters. When we have the ball, Benji goes to dummy half (worked a treat at the back end of last season) and ET plays the link man at 5/8. When the other mob have the ball, ET defends in the middle and Benji at 5/8.

That means you don't need a back-up dummy half on the bench.
