WESTS TIGERS BEAT ROOSTERS 36-16 IN TOYOTA CUP MATCH

Wests Tigers recorded their sixth consecutive victory in the Toyota Cup competition with a resounding 36-16 victory over Sydney Roosters at Campbelltown Sports Stadium today.
The Tigers lost prop Neil Begovich with a minor leg injury after suffering cuts during a training mishap that kept him out of last week's win over Penrith at CUA Stadium.
Impressive young forward Junior Roqica came off the five man interchange bench to start in replace of Begovich.
Wests Tigers dominated posession in the opening seven minutes, twice attacking the Roosters line without success.
The Roosters opened the scoring in the 11th minute when the ball was sent left through three sets of hands for winger Mark Kheirallah to score in the corner. The try was not converted by half-back Brad Murray for a 4-0 scoreline.
Wests Tigers hit back in the 17th minute when winger Sama Sauvao picked up a loose pass to step and beat three defenders to score behind the posts. Full-back Jake Mullaney converted the try for a 6-4 lead to bring up his 100 points for the season in eight matches. He is the first player in the Toyota Cup competition to register 100 points.
The Roosters went to an 8-6 lead when five-eighth Jack Littlejohn stepped inside past two defenders to score near the posts. Murray converted the try for a 10-6 lead after 28 minutes.
Wests Tigers drew level when powerhouse back-rower Ben Murdoch-Masila used brute strength and strong leg drive to beat five defenders in a 15 metre run to score under the posts.
Mullaney converted the try for a 12-10 lead after 34 minutes.
It became 16-10 when interchange hooker Pat Politoni picked up the ball from dummy half one handed and threw a superb cut out pass into the arms of Sauvao for the winger to score his second try three minutes before half-time. Mullaney failed to convert the try from out wide.
A superb play from a scrum win 25 metres out by Mullaney saw the full-back put a grubber kick through for winger Faleula Finau to catch it to score behind the posts to send his team-mates rushing in with excitement. Mullaney converted the try to give Wests Tigers a handy 22-10 lead at half-time.
2nd Half
Wests Tigers applied plenty of pressure in the opening minutes of the second half but couldn't score. Second-rower Joel Wisbey got over the line in a two man tackle but lost the ball trying to put it down.
The Roosters made a break down the left hand side through two flick passes before Wests Tigers centre Limoni Kamuta took an intercept pass to defuse the play.
Tensions rose after Wests Tigers half-back Jay Florimo pulled off a superb one on one tackle on five-eigh Jack Littejohn. Following the play the ball five metres out, the pair exchanged punches.
The penalty went to the Wests Tigers two metres out from their own line with 25 minutes remaining.
A short and well executed grubber kick by five-eighth Bodie Clarke saw centre Jake Clarke fly through to place two hands on the ball to score for a 26-10 lead. Mullaney's conversion attempt from out wide hit the left upright and bounced away.
