Wests Tigers dont wait any longer

Firstly lets not get carried away with how good we think we played, I'll give credit that we went well considering the loss of our 2 best forwards but Melbourne we're bloody terrible, they handed us that game and we fumbled it and threw it away. You won't see the Storm play that bad again.

Yeah,Melb. are struggling in most games so far this season and it was the same Yesterday.Happy that our blokes had a go and put up a fight but we urgently need some genuine 1st graders before we dump another Coach. My 2c.

I think there were a lot of positive indicators that came out of last night's game. Let's wait to see what happens against the Raiders. We have a very good chance against them with their horrible form, poor defense and low confidence. If we don't measure up next week, then questions should be asked because at some point we have to start putting things together. We have enough talent with our best squad to be competitive. The young halves decision making and the intensity in the forwards have to mesh and maybe that comes down to coaching…

Nailed it stevied.

Yesterday's game was pretty good. Heartbreaking but given the circumstances was a good performance. Some people, in their disappointment, are struggling to differentiate between a bad loss and a more acceptable loss.

I can cop losing in GP when the team puts in a whole-hearted effort, a consistent effort over 80 mins. Tigers struggle to reel in deficits late in matches, so that part was pleasing.

Being tacked onto 4 other losses is the hard part. Last week's game was far worse - a poorer performance against lower quality opposition.

I get what you're saying and what other's are also saying but a loss is a loss. Effort isn't recorded on the table. At the end of the day we have lost 5 in a row and that is just horrendous…i'll head down to support the boys in Canberra but we're looking at losing 6-7 in a row now and we have put up with a lot as fans. Close enough isn't good enough.

InBenjiWeTrust says arguably Naiqama, Woods, Sue, Seumanufagai, Lawrence, Moses, and even Lovett improved under Taylor - I'll add Teddy and Siro.

That is half the team then that has improved under Taylor. People are talking about getting rid of this and that one. We still need players for NRL and the two lower grades for the rest of the season unless we are going to play 9's in the NRL.

We know some players are below par and need to be let go - not now though.

Players x, y and Z are not good enough - who do you replace them with? It is ok to say they are not good enough but if possible replacements are not good enough.
Taylor does not have the dough to buy the 2 or 3 players we need at the moment but why do we rubbish him for not buying them - for next year maybe but he can't at the moment (Unless the ET story is correct?), which give us two - we nabbed Grant.

So JT is left with players that put in 100% yesterday - some are good, some not so good, some are rookies, some are youngsters. What do you do with a team like that? Get behind them I say and hope they keep improving, give some others a go when you can to see how they handle it (more than one game) and from that we have a better idea who to keep and who to let go for next year.

It is a slow fix when you do not have the coin - no one is saying be happy with mediocrity but when you can't offer an immediate solution. i.e. go out and buy A, B. C. and D like some clubs do with brown paper bags. As long as the boys put in 100% every week (don't count the Knights game) that is all you can ask. We have to live with it until the money becomes available and we can buy the players we need. In the meantime I think most are improving and hopefully we can come up with a finals producing team with the same coach next year.

I don't buy this - Storm were below par crap either - yes they were, but you only play as good as your opposition lets you. We were in their faces all day, they did not have as much time to do their thing as they usually do - is that our fault.

Credit where credit is due.

Hang in there guys, don't think we're too far off some wins.
I also hate golden field goal as much as anyone and was gutted as much as anyone else with that loss, but was real happy with the way the guys played.
Taking into consideration who we had out and I'm sure Kevvy wasn't 100% yesterday. You would also have to ask whether Teddy is okay after all the knocks he's copped in recent times. God that guy is tough!
Can't see us going any better with another coach, but gee I wish we had of given Potter a fair go.

Just in comparison to other years, our worst losing streaks since 2000:

2000 7
2001 5
2002 6
2003 6
2004 4
2005 4
2006 3
2007 4
2008 4
2009 5
2010 4
2011 3
2012 5
2013 7
2014 6
2015 5
2016 5

A lot of our players just aren't up to 1st grade. It's as simple as that. I don't really see the point of sacking Taylor. Unless we got a Bellamy, changing coaches will not do squat. People wanted Edwards in today, they got their wish. he tried but looks a plodder. Addo-Carr got his chance and again tried but he isn't ready. Everyone wanted Milone deported from Australia this time last week but today he was solid.
The way some people on this forum are carrying on it's as if they believed we would make the 8\. Our roster shows us as a bottom 4 side and that's what's happening.
The solution is to buy well for next year but who want's to come and play with us?

Agree about Edwards, he looks unfit. But Josh tried hard, did a couple of good chases and would like to see him back next week. He'll only get better with more game time.

The coach huffed and puffed last week and we all expected changes, alas none came, only through injury, the coach has put up with below par performances all year, and he expects us supporters to as well.
I know our roster is not great, but having players play so bad week in week out and keep getting picked is no way to take the club forward.
We need a new coach, we need to tell our 2 halves they take up their offer this week or it is off the table, we can't be messed around any longer.
We need to drop a few players from 1st grade now and tell another 5 or 6 we don't need them next year and start looking at our problem areas, secondrow and centre.
We can't just bumble along for another 5 weeks like we have for the last 5 weeks, we need some clear direction and accountability, at present we have neither.

I agree 851\. So sick of the same old same old.
We are so drearily predictable. The team lacks discipline, lacks footy smarts and patience,
far too many errors in each and every game lately.
JT and the players talk about addressing those issues, but nothing changes.
I don't know what the solution is, but it's obvious so far, that JT doesn't either.
One thing's for sure. We can't keep going down this losing road. Changes must and will be made. Hopefully sooner rather then later. :frowning:

Teddy is copping a few head knocks lately… I wouldn't be surprised if the opposition is coached to go out and intentionally hurt him. Get him off the field. It's the only way to stop Teddy. I hope that's not the case.

I wonder i f i am becoming numb to losing, yesterday i thought they gave their all and were unlucky not to win. I thought under Taylor that the halves would improve out of sight being a decent halfback himself, i wonder how much time he spends with them as surely it a priority and is the winning or losing factor in our team.

Because for the last 4 years we as a club have struggled the most since our establishment in 2000,and our 4 year rebuilding plan is obviously not working

You mean since Timmy left?
He had us competitive most years

3 finals in the 10 years he was with us doesnt really scream 'competitive most years' to me

not to mention the absolute **** show roster he left us in 2013 and generally poor S&C staff
