WESTS TIGERS FLY HIGH WITH TIGER AIRWAYS
7/03/2012 5:02:00 PM
Wests Tigers were today on hand for the announcement by Tiger Airways Australia that Sydney will become the airline’s second Australian base.
Operations plan to commence from early July 2012.
Wests Tigers have been working with Tiger Airways since 2009 when our players hauled the inaugural Sydney to Melbourne flight out of the hangar.
“We are delighted Tiger Airways have decided to increase their level of sponsorship investment in the Club,”said Wests Tigers CEO Stephen Humphreys.
“It is obvious that Tiger Airways have been working hard on their business and we look forward to working with them to grow throughout the 2012 season.”
From 01 July 2012, three Airbus A320 aircraft will progressively call Sydney home, creating over 150 new jobs and providing up to 10 additional daily return services through Sydney Airport.
Tiger Airways CEO Andrew David says the news is great for consumers, for domestic tourism and for the economy. Also present at the event were CEO of Sydney Airport, Kerrie Mather and NSW Deputy Premier and Minister for Trade and Investment Andrew Stoner.
“Three aircraft operating from our second Australian base will provide up to 3600 extra seats a day through Sydney Airport,'' Mr David said.
"This is a win-win for both consumers wanting more low fares as well as for domestic tourism. The creation of over 150 new jobs in Sydney is certainly welcome news for the industry given the current economic climate.”
