Wests Tigers go down to Eels + Video

Well, that's good, no injuries….not a very flattering scoreline, but we were missing some forwards.

How did everyone go? Any standouts?

NRL.com review sounds less than flattering - I prefer Kuls description of it

sounds like the verbal fellatio of Parramatta has already begun…

Parramatta showed signs of being a force to reckon with in 2011, posting a hugely impressive 30-10 NRL trial win over Wests Tigers at Campbelltown on Saturday.\
\
On a hot and humid night in Sydney's south-west, where the mercury nudged 38 degrees pitchside, Tigers coach Tim Sheens and his opposite number Stephen Kearney started the game with virtually full-strength teams, in front of a crowd of 12,761.\
\
Players from both sides were enjoying their first hit-outs of the season, but it was Kearney's men who looked the sharper as they raced out of the blocks.\
\
The Eels, who flopped massively in 2010, missing the finals despite starting the season as premiership favourites, scored three tries in the opening 20 minutes to leave the Tigers shellshocked.\
\
Jeff Robson broke the deadlock in the sixth minute after Benji Marshall deflected Daniel Mortimer's teasing kick into his path, with Casey McGuire doubling the lead five minutes later, diving over from dummy-half.\
\
Former Brisbane and Queensland utility McGuire, who joined the Eels in the off-season after a four-year stint with Super League club Catalans Dragons, impressed from hooker, and could prove to be an astute acquisition.\
\
The 31-year-old was at the heart of everything for the Eels, and his electric 50-metre run almost set up Jarryd Hayne, who was stopped just short of the line by a mass of white shirts.\
\
However, that let-off was short-lived as Justin Horo added a third four-pointer, darting onto a Robson grubber-kick to score.\
\
Hayne piled on the misery for the Sheens' side 10 minutes before the break, showing superb footwork to leave Marshall and Andrew Fifita for dead and dancing his way to the line.\
\
Tigers winger Lote Tuqiri stopped the rot with a try in the left corner three minutes before the break, only for the Eels to grab their fifth try thanks to some brilliance from skipper Nathan Hindmarsh on the stroke of halftime.\
\
The old warhorse raced 85-metres after pickingoff a Robert Lui pass, but just as his 31-year-old legs were giving way underneath him, he offloaded for Horo to grab his second try, with Luke Burt converting his fifth goal of the game.\
\
Both sides made several changes throughout the second half, as the pace of the game slowed, with the conditions taking their toll on the players.\
\
Tuqiri bulldozed his way over 10 minutes after the restart, with Marshall adding the extras, but it proved to be the last score of the match, as the Eels ran out comfortable winners.\
\
The Tigers will take on Sydney Roosters in their final trial match next Saturday, with Parramatta meeting Penrith._

Miller was refreshing to watch. Sharp!

Benji was in good form when he had the ball.
Tuqiri Lawrence combo only had the ball a few times but they worked very well.

Fijian winger showed pace.

Looking forward to next week.

I recorded about 10 minutes of footage throughout the game. Will process and post tonight or
Tomorrow.

Crowd is fair.
Tigers yet to run out.
Moltz is running up and down the steps in his bay.
For Demps: his eye are so dreamy! Lol

It's bloody hot and sticky

LOL good lookin on the shoutout.
I've been @ the gym so i missed all the action of this thread, going to have a read over it now.

Just got home from the game, we were crap…very ordinary.
Parra seemed to make metres at will.
Our D was ordinary, kicking was ordinary. Going side to side without going forward.
Had no ball for the first 1/4...finally get to the 20 an hold it and Lote scores.
The try to parra before halftime was embarrasing, Hindmarsh intercepts on their line, hes jogging upfield, Benji slips off, then McKinnon slips off, Hindy offloads to someone to score....terrible- I can run faster then him.
We are notoriously slow starters around trial time, but Parra looked like they had a point to prove, we looked like we'd been reading our press.
We had a mountain of possesion in the 2nd spell and a ton of penaltys and couldnt do a thing with it...no injuries is good to hear tho I guess.
Kilo & Lawrence our best imo.

Very average day at the footy for the club,

Forwards looked lazy and unfit, No impact without the guns out there.

Kicking game still as terrible as ever.

No injuries a real plus but a long way to go.

Agree with Kul and Ink, those putrid white jersies are a laughing stock….we looked like gay marshmallows.

I know its only a trial but we looked well of the pace...against a side who aren't that good.

I actually don't mind it… which is the complete opposite reaction I had when I first saw them. The 'wave' on the front is the only thing I don't like.

Fifita looks like he's shrunk about 10kgs too.

Fi Fi Box's workrate was brilliant. Did a lot of defence. Galloway snotted almost everyone that ran his way. Tagive was solid, showed good confidence under the high ball. Brown too was strong from the back. Good hit out by Woods too.

No injuries, that's all I wanted. Improvement needed? Hell yes. that's the beauty of trials. Opportunity to blow the cobwebs out. Wests certainly have quite a few to clear out before Round 1\. Let's hope they can clear the remainder out next week against the Chookies.

I went to the game it just seemed parra had more to play for than what we did. They definitely we more enthuisastic and the run of play showed that, we seemed off the pace. The punchup on fulltime on the eastern side of the ground was more entertaining at least the crowd got involved at that point.

Was talking to someone in the club tonight and Jason Cayless has gone. All I say is good riddance he hasn't been picked up by another club at this point.
