I'm a long time fan / previous contributor to the forum though have switched off over the last few years and wanted to get a feeler out there with all Tigers fans about getting on board with the latest social media winner in Instagram.
For those who don't know, Instagram is similar to Twitter in that you post an update on what you're doing along with hashtag (topic) inclusion capabilities. The addition is, it also includes the ability to doll up photos to add to the update with all these cool cropping, fuzzing and image type tools.
I've noticed that the Tigers are getting better with their use of Twitter and FB over the years which is basically part and parcel of a media role within any football club.
I think the utilization of Instagram though, would give fans the ability to post some great photos and capture brilliant moments at matches (if phone coverage is applicable!) or just other moments outside of matches. Even players can get on board by posting images of them out and about. The ability to use hashtags can then store all these #weststigers images in one location and provide a great snapshot of all the happenings going on within the Wests Tigers community. I tried valiantly over the weekend to capture some moments and hope all you fanatics can do the same if you're that way inclined. Here's an example from the weekend. http://statigr.am/viewer.php#/detail/139548808434225733_18720835
I'm sure many other people took great photos over the weekend, but unfortunately they'll only be available to their FB community (Facebook Friends) or Twitter followers unless they use hashtags of course. In saying this, Instagram provides better quality images and more options to fancy up existing photos. Plus, you can link Instagram updates to Twitter and FB super easily.
My suggestions are:
1) We as fans take on board this opportunity and use this application to the best of its ability so fans can check out all the latest photos from Wests Tigers fans
2) Wayne Cousins gets on board with this new social media tool and spreads the word through the web channels and also to the players that Instragram is great and another great way to build our clubs social media entity.
Even applying 1 of the two suggestions would be great for all supporters though both came to fruition, that would rock! :sign:
If anyone has anymore thoughts on this, let me know.
