Wests SG Ball leading Canberra 12-4 at halftime.

Any standouts or other observations from the games you watched mate?

I found SG Ball team better then flegg. Big team. The fullback for SG really stood out, not sure who he is. Set up 3 tries to the left standing in the five eight position and throwing a cut out pass to the winger on that side. He knew it was on that side and kept going there, was also very vocal in defense barking the team around the park. For SG the 11 or 12 (long hair second rower) and both wingers were good. The guy on the left was very bulky and the other winger had a good step.

Fleg were very clunky, no continuity like SG. The ref was calling a lot of 6 agains. Didn't notice tannous to be honest. Stand outs in fleg were Bray Guyan, high work rate played 13. Webster-Mansfield is a big boy.

Honestly enjoyed those games more than first grade. Great ground. Wish people would put their rubbish in the bin tho.

Yeah agree on the flegg side , just watched it on a freinds Hudl site and yeah Tannous was fairly ordinary he played about 20 minutes and was the worst of the 3 hookers used , the second hooker used wasnt much better i think it may have been Jacob Anjoul but not sure , the last hooker used had alot more go about him , had a decent running game showed a bit of pace he had number 23 on no idea who he is . also agree on the number 13 he had a decent game , no other standouts for me .

The Roosters first try looked nice. Sure the boys just glad to be playing again. Let's hope no disruptions this year.

First game for Tannous and Anjoul in around 12 months, both had long-term injuries before last season began.

Hopefully they return to form soon, as have seen promise in both of them previously.

Don't forget there's potentially still trialists in this very early games, they'd naturally get more chance to impress so the squads can be finalised ASAP.

Sounds like Tannous at hooker, Hill at halfback and Roberts at 5/8? Guyan doing ok at lock

Is that the Hill that was off to Nth Qld?

Jordan went north. Kade Hill the half who stayed if I recall.

Yep, you’re right. @batboy ^

Anyone happened to know the name of the full back in SG for us last weekend? He is a white guy with decent size about him.

Mate I saw last two games and didn't realised they split in SG.

Wests SG Ball was at Kirkham before Flegg so would've been that team.

And not 100% mate, thought it might've been the Harold Matts fullback from last year but he stayed in Matts.

When the proper season starts you'll be able to get team lists on this website. https://www.nswrl.com.au/draw/?competition=144

Thanks mate they seemed a pretty stacked team. Made easy work of Canberra

It would be unusual for Wests to have a strong side, but a welcome change. They haven't managed to secure the strongest players from the region for a long time, and apparently too much politics and in-fighting to be competent.
If they can get their act together it would be huge for us. They haven't really had a good side since the days of fulton and co.

That was the first SG ball game id been to but I was blown away how big, developed and structured they were. Especially with covid.

I think it might of just been the best of the two groups playing but they were that good made me feel good things are a couple of years away.

there was lots of on field talk dare say more than I seen with our first grade

These boys on both sides were putting their body on the line for a trial.

One player after our winger dived for a try, the Canberra opposing player put his body on the line too to stop, both were inured heard the Canberra playing saying my neck, but he was okay.

The fullback could be Cathane Hill who joined us from North Qld, thought he'd be playing flegg but for some reason we hold back our queenslanders. Just missed out on aussie schoolboy selection to one of his team mates.
