HYLAND APPOINTED CAPTAIN OF NYC TEAM
By Wayne Cousins
Tuesday, 9 March 2010

Wests Tigers Coach Grant Jones has named his side to play Manly Sea Eagles in the opening round of the Toyota Cup competition on Monday, March 15.

Kick-off is 4.45pm.

Jones has appointed lock Matt Hyland captain. Hyland, full-back, Jake Mullaney, prop Aaron Woods and utility Junior Roqica have spent the pre-season training with the Wests Tigers NRL squad.

Wests Tigers will field another competitive and strong team in 2010 after being controversially beaten in the Toyota Cup grand final by Melbourne Storm last season.

From that side, Mullaney, Sama Sauvao, Joel Wisbey, Jake Clarke, Aaron Woods, Matt Hyland, Jay Florimo and Monikura Tikinau are the only players lining up against Manly.

1 Jake Mullaney
2 Sama Sauvao
3 Limoni Kamuta
4 Jake Clarke
5 Faleula Finau
6 Bodie Clark
7 Jay Florimo
8 Neil Begovich
9 Sam Stanford
10 Ben Murdoch-Masila
11 Vaha Palu
12 Joel Wisbey
13 Matt Hyland ©

14 Dean Parata
15 Junior Roqica
16 Sebastian Vourlos
17 Monikura Tikinau
18 Aaron Woods

Does anyone have a top 25 list or anything like that for the U/20`s this season ???
I know they have some names of players listed on the Wests Tigers Official Site, but was wanting to know if players such as Daniel Ashin, Shaun Spence, Pat Politoni and Liam Ayoub are still in the picture ???

Also for the Magpies fans, does anyone know why Jake Townsend isn`t playing for either the Magpies Harold Matthews or S.G Ball sides this season ??? Hopefully he`s injured and not at another club ???

And what is with Woods in 18?

He hasn't played in any trial matches due to injury. Might still be touch and go…

A little surprised to see Murdoch named at prop. Would have preferred Lui named there with Murdoch in the backrow lurking wide of the ruck where he can cause some damage. Hopefully they give a good account of themselves against Manly.

To my knowledge, Jake has been injured for quite some time now. Last year some time he broke his leg (I think), and its going to take a while for him to start playing again. I would say that we should start looking out for him next year, as he will be eligible for SG Ball and who knows what after that…Please correct me if I am wrong...

That's correct Jake broke his leg about 10 months ago after the rep season while playing club football...he should be back for Wests SG Ball next year.
