Maguire confirmed a couple of experienced players will miss the trip to Rockhampton through injury.

“Unfortunately, [James Roberts] won’t be playing this week. We pushed him but he won’t be in the team,” the coach confirmed.

“He’s been in good spirits and he’s shown plenty of leadership in camp. He’s spoken openly around what needs to happen this weekend.

“[James Tamou] won’t be playing. He’s been struggling with a minor injury.”


It would be nice if we could ‘Do a Souths’ and just get Tamou to retire to do some made up job.

We all know how this works out for us.... CEO suspended and salary cap penalty for a few years to show the rest of the NRL teams that this will not be accepted. :face_with_rolling_eyes:

I’m going to Browne Park to watch the Tigers play this Saturday and I have a 100% record.

Over the last dozen years I have attended about 6 Tiger games - and the Tigers have lost ALL of them.

Tamou in a moon boot last week, still injured... playing 20 mins a game.
I can smell a medical retirement coming.

Wests Tigers Coach Michael Maguire has confirmed two changes to his squad ahead of Saturday's clash against the Cronulla Sharks.

Kickoff for the match is at 3:00pm AEST from Browne Park, Rockhampton.

Captain James Tamou (foot) and James Roberts (achilles) have both been ruled out of the updated 19-man squad with minor injuries, with Origin representative Joe Ofahengaue moving into the starting side as a replacement for Tamou.

Billy Walters and Tom Amone are the new faces on the bench, where they join Tuki Simpkins and Kelma Tuilagi as the four-man interchange list.

Zac Cini will join the squad again as 18th Man with Jock Madden as 19th Man.

Billy Walters will play a lot of nrl next year , deserved or not . And Tom Amone was one of the best props in KOE cup this year , he just hasn’t translated yet to nrl .

Our depth hasn’t been this good in a long time . It’s the top end that’s the issue not the bottom .

I still think JTJ can add value at $200k. He’s had no good ball all year. I wouldn’t be opposed to keeping him for another year.

Give him a mentor job or something within the community sector we've involved in.

Wouldn't hurt to keep him around in a developmental role like that.....

Surely he can help out some up and coming indigenous players.
