Wests Tigers Coach Michael Maguire is set to welcome back James Roberts for Sunday’s Round 3 clash against the Newcastle Knights at McDonald Jones Stadium.

Roberts missed last week’s loss to the Sydney Roosters with a minor injury but has been named to return to the side in place of Joey Leilua, who has been named among the reserves in jersey 19.

Representative forward Zane Musgrove will also return this week in a boost for the side after missing the opening two games with a suspension picked up in the 2021 NRL All Stars match. He will start up front alongside captain James Tamou with Joe Ofahengaue dropping back to the bench in place of Michael Chee Kam.

Russell Packer and Alex Seyfarth join Chee Kam and Leilua as the other players named among the reserves to round out the 21-man squad.

With Talau at centre there's not really any other options for the wing. We've lacked depth at wing all pre season, hopefully his defence improves with Joey not there

that's quite the bench. jury still out on that left edge. Talau struggled against to make the correct calls against a roosters reserve grade side on the left, let's hope he's made improvements.

I think his effort was fine. His execution is slow.
To me it looks like he has talent & ability but isn’t up to speed of the NRL. His runs are more effective than all our backs except Laurie. We just need him to catch the ball.

Looks to be playing injured

When fully fit he has tremendous leg drive.
