He often racks up quite a few missed tackles with his style of defence but quite often he shut down back line plays against the teams we’ve faced. He gets shrugged off but people are scoring through him like they were Benji.

Defensively he’s marginally better than Benji. But in attack he really offers nothing.

Our defence has been a lot better with Rey olds there. We don’t get those big plays like we do from Benji but our attack has still been good without him

Reynolds prefers to just give the wide men early ball and let them run the attack, very different from Benji who drifts across field a lot. Joey benefitted from having Reynolds there for sure. Benji has better short kicking but Reynolds does some good kicks into the corners and leads the kick chase to get us on the front foot.

Positives and negatives from both guys really and considering we are 2-2 since our loss to the titans it could go either way.

I do too, he sometimes telegraphs the 3rd tackle kick and the full back gets there a bit quicker than you would like and it wasn't the best option available. But I would take that option over bombing on the last and giving up a 7 tackle set everyday of the week. JRey is the lower risk lower return option, he suits our current style far better.
7 tackle sets are simply inexcusable, and they have decreased massively since Benji was dropped.

I personally wouldn't take the risk against Souths because they have speed and the players to burn us. Also they are a team that if they score easily they go on with it. Need to play defence and frustrate them out of the game.

Benji definitely reads the defence better than MCK.might miss tackles but I think Nofa would Benefit more.both bad choices 😂

I counted 3 in the first half. The first was a covering attempt about 8 or 9 minutes in that had he not got there, the attacker (maybe Mansour or Crichton?) would have gone in to score in the corner. He slowed the play down significantly as the attacker stopped and had to cut back inside and was tackled by others. The second was a long kick chase which he did a lot of work, stopped the player and Brooks came in to finish off. It was hardly a miss at all. The third was a miss on Cleary. He probably could have done better there. Anyway, the point is, you are right. Stats are not black and white. I can't remember the second half missses, but I reckon if I went back through them some would have been significant enough to have done a job whilst other defenders were involved as well.

Agreed but Benji has the attacking spiral bomb. Actually it’s Brooks who is the weakest of the three in this department

Agreed but Benji has the attacking spiral bomb. Actually it’s Brooks who is the weakest of the three in this department

Brooks kicking has been quite good the last few weeks I think. He does the small things right like his kicks always land right in front of the tryline or he gets them in the corners. It’s something he’s improved on this year because last year he often got them wrong.

Yep, and really doesn't add anything in attack. Imo we're a stronger team with Benji in the 6, although I feel i'm in the minority.

Or you could watch the games. Reynolds was good against Canberra, atrocious against NQ, average (not bad against) Bulldogs and below average against Penrith. He is a liability in attack and defence. He has a reasonable kicking game.
