Wests Tigers will field a side in this Saturday’s Jason Annear Memorial Rugby League Nines tournament at Berkeley Vale Oval.

New recruit Billy McConnachie is set to play his first game for Wests Tigers, while new part-time squad members Matt Eisenhuth, Jesse Maxwell-Offen, Jackson Williams and Billy Tsikrikas have also been included in the 17-man squad.

The remainder of the team features a mixture of part-time and Holden Cup squad members who will have their first hit-out of the 2016 pre-season.

The tournament is in its fourth year and is run by Berkley Vale Rugby League in honour of former player Jason Annear, who passed away in 2013.

Wests Tigers have been drawn in Pool A and will come up against Gulargambone Rovers, Wyong Roos, La Perouse Panthers and the Maree Kelly All Stars.

Fifteen teams will compete for the $7000 prize money in the Jason Annear Memorial tournament, with the Maree Kelly Memorial Nines also taking place on the day and will feature seven different Women’s teams.

The first match of the day kicks off at 8:40am, with the pool matches concluding at 4:00pm and the finals to follow in what will be an action-packed day of rugby league.

Entry on the day is $5 and for more information on the tournament, click here.

Good Idea going in this tournament…hopefully some of our Central Coast Wests Tigers fans can get along and give us a rundown...

The 7K would be nice too..

I'm absolutely shattered I'll be stuck at work,
Would've loved to make the trip down to watch this.

Obviously anyone in this trial isn't considered for the 9s, and you'd gather these players are strongly being looked at for just the nsw cup for the start of the year. Billy the only new recruit in there. Seemingly a lot of work still to do with his fitness.

Some interesting talent in that squad and I reckon they will give a fair account of themselves.

If the tiger's won the comp it would be nice to see them donate the money to beyond blue in memory of Mosese Fotuaika. A good way to start our association with beyond blue

that side should win the comp. unless it is a bit stronger this year.

Be interesting to see if Wyong's team is NSW Cup Level or CC 1st Div. Fijian team will be interesting. It's up the other end of the Coast from me but I might get up there.

Where you from mate?
Lake Haven?

Things like this are great for community engagement and especially in light of the PR fails of the last few months.

Would have been nice to send down a FG player or 6 for photos etc.

Same day as Fan Day at ANZ…

then everyone would bemoan players not being there... :unamused:
