Todd Payten names NYC team for Rd 2

Wests Tigers NYC Coach Todd Payten has named his side to play Penrith Panthers at Campbelltown Sports Stadium on Sunday, March 17.

The match kicks off at 12.45pm and will be played before the NRL clash.

Wests Tigers opened the season with a hard fought win over Newcastle on Monday night.

The same thing happened with Nofoaluma last week. Wasn't named as injured or in NYC or Reserve Grade if I'm not mistaken.

He was very close to Mosese I imagine he has been given compassionate leave

I believe he's on compassionate leave after Mosese's passing. They must have been close. Fair enough to give him a week or two off after it happened so close to the start of the season.

What has happened to Manaia Rudolph? doesnt seem to be in Paytens plans, would not surprise me if he asks for a release.

That's a shame about Nofoaluma. Let's hope he's feeling better about things day by day. It can't be easy.

What's the long term prognosis on Jarrad Szcczudlo, apparently because of the strenghth of last years NYC team he was sent back to Bundy Cup I think and suffered the season ending knee injury, still eligible for NYC, can't wait for his return as the reports on his abilities makes me hope we have another Aaron Woods.

Jarrad is coming along good, my name has changed due to loss of pass word former beer delivery guy….
Jarrad has put on a fair bit of upper body mas during his knee injury, and is workin hard with up to 3 physo session a week ,
He is walk, dippin, and going good, recovery is on track,
Cycling but not running for a few months to come, but is really tryin to make it back this season, and hoping for his 3 rd yr extension to prove his worth !!
Will keep y'all updated with how things are , as they come through !!!!

NYC Preview: Early acid test for Todd Payten's team

Wests Tigers will face an early acid test when they tackle Penrith Panthers at Campbelltown Sports Stadium on Sunday, March 17, in round 2 of the Holden Cup.

Both sides are coming off opening round wins. Penrith towelled up last year’s grand finalists Canberra 40-16 while Wests Tigers recorded a hard fought 22-12 away victory over Newcastle.

Wests Tigers Coach Todd Payten says he is looking forward to the challenge. Kick-off is 12.45pm.

“Penrith are a real top four contender this year. They have plenty of second year players in their line up,’’ Payten said.

“They trialled well and comprehensively beat last year’s grand finalists last weekend.

“Their forwards are fit and mobile with no real weakness and their halfback Sam Scarlett toyed with the Raiders.

“Captain Tony Satini was a real handful in the centres against us last year and looks a couple kilos heavier and a yard quicker this year.

“There is no doubt we’ll have to improve quite a bit if we are to compete and get the win on Sunday.”
