Weststigers and Balmain leagues

With some of the suggestions the Balmain side of the merger is in financial strife ie not having the cash to pay out sheens, does anyone know the status of balmain leagues club which would obviously be the dent in those financials with regards to the weststigers.

Yeah looks like the Balmain side of the merger is not pulling their weight.
Money talks. Wests Magpies could sever ties with Balmain if they don't meet their financial obligations.
A new team, the Wests Magpies, would have to re-apply as a new team in the NRL.
Good luck to the old Magpies fans who would like to have their old team back.

I don't really understand why Balmain leagues club would need to come up with extra money to pay out Sheens - shouldn't the joint venture as a seperatly run business come up with the cash. Now if at the end of the year this leads to the requiring extera grants to maintain other costs then both clubs would look at that as part of thier yearly grant but as an immediate thing then it should be Wests Tigers as a joint venture managing thier costs and income and inclusive of this. My main concern with paying out Sheens is that this is a significant lump of money that will have to be taken away from another source - I mean imaging what an extra $900k could do for improving our player recovery and health facilities so that we had our players on the field mor eoften as it seems injuries is usally what determines a clubs results for the year

As for the idea that Wests Magpies could run thier own club in the NRL then that would be a fun 2 years (max) till they went broke as they finsihed last. Balmain would be the same. Perhaps the Wests Tigers club should be floated in a green bay packers model so fans can own the team

As much as I loved the Maggies, I do not want to see this merger die off like the Norths/Manly merger did. I love the current set up (excluding the recent garbage these past few weeks)

Anyone who calls for the Magpies to stand alone does not love football. Imagine the situation reversed, then think how you would feel.

Anyway, it won't happen.

I'm an old Magpie man and would love to see the old black and white V running around at the top level again, however it will never happen. The Tiger emblem is a marketers dream and by cutting the Balmain heritage free you'd only be disenfranchising a sizable slab of your supporter base.
Makes very little business sense.

don't make assumptions based on half-baked mutterings from an un-named Wests board member in the Daily Telegraph.

Unamed? I thought Rick Wayde was quoted or am I confused with another article?

i dont think there will be a severing of ties wests tigers are here to stay what i am asking is does anyone know the state of the leagues club did the proposed building get the go ahead with council or is it still rumbling along,to me the longer this goes on the more financial strain it puts on the balmain side of the merger.

Wests Magpies will not be re-entering NRL regardless of Balmain Leagues Club situation. Here is latest copy of BLC financial status:

No, you're right, it was Rick Wayde and it was the SMH, unless I am confused with another article.

Regarding your ACTUAL question Doc, this thread is probably the best place to start:

This is just a half baked muttering from you.But In regards to Balmains debt Wests silence has been deafening as they try and carry there jv partner through this tough team.Wests loyalty to the jv can never been questioned.Ironic when you think that only 12 or so months ago that humphreys decided to show more love towards Ryde eastwood that 0% owner than he did Wests.Wests loyalty through Balmains demise should be forever remembered.
