WestsTigers players caught in hepatitis A scare over Berries

Here is a question for all those budding Drs out there

Will the club be required to let the Sharks know who are possibly infected

So if we see galloway go through the line untouched and score ?
We'd assume he's one of them

Happy, people with Hep. A,B or C , are only required by law to disclose their status only if they are working in the health sector and involved or assisting in surgical procedures.
If donating blood at the blood bank ( they can not donate blood or blood products ) if infected.
If the infected persons are employed in the Armed Forces and also for Insurance and Superannuation purposes.
Other wise they are not required to tell anyone, unless they want to.
There's privacy laws in place to protect people that are infected from discrimination.
That is why the names of the players are not made public.

I also think that If those players have tested positive, they would not be playing in the trial.
Let's hope they are not infected and have an awsome game against the Sharks.

Things have obviously changed TM

I had to miss a game because of Hep scare and had to wait until the results came through before getting clearance

The results usually take a few days once send to the lab. The players should know either way before the trial match, hopefully Happy.

Yeah waited close to two weeks back then TM

Technology , she just marches on and on

Yuk. Food grown in poo is major turn off from Imported foods. I don't trust that cheap seafood from Asia either. Who knows what they are using as feed in the fish farms.
I only buy Australian and NZ produce. I've got a cast iron stomach and get eat almost anything but my kids were getting effected badly by the sodium nitrite they put on meat, so they switched to organic meat. They haven't had a problem since. I wish I knew about it years ago, its made a big difference to them and their strength.

Any player bleeding during this game should be whipped off quicker than a coptic christian running through Lybia.

The club will NOT name the players and thats all due to privacy laws so any blood and off, simple.

Press Conference: Jason Taylor

Wed 18th February, 03:18PM
Wests Tigers Head Coach Jason Taylor spoke to the media this afternoon regarding recent berries news reports, declaring that the players who had been tested for Hepatitis A would be right for Saturday's trial against the Cronulla Sharks.

"It's really simple," said Taylor this afternoon at Campbelltown Sports Stadium.

"A couple of the guys have eaten the berries that have been recalled.

"We're not overly concerned about it; we're just being really cautious.

It's just a smart move by the Club to make sure that the guys are okay.

"The guys are preparing to play this weekend against Cronulla, and we're very confident that's what they'll do. They're training as per normal."

JT's response….. :deadhorse: :brick:

Reality of it all is that this is what Australia reaps for not buying local.

Support your local green grocer and farmers!

you'd think first graders would be able to afford a few extra cents for the local product. I dont get it.

We have not bought any food stuff that is coming from NZ for around 4yrs as the majority of the food canned etc comes from China this is how they came in through the back door into Australia ..be careful where your buy your food from country of origin as all is not what it seems!

Rest assured if it says it is made in NZ on the label its from China. McCain and Golden Circle are the main culprits.

Aldi are probably the chain that support Australian growers the most.

Targeting the Club as if we did something wrong? That's just perception…

“As soon as the club were aware of it and the players put their hands up and said “we believe we’ve eaten these berries” the club doctor issued referrals for the boys to get tested,’’ Mayer told News Limited.
>
“From a duty of care point-of-view the club has taken this very seriously with the view of that the players are treated appropriately.’’
>
Tigers coach Jason Taylor added that he has seen no signs of illness in the players in question but that the club will monitor the situation accordingly.
>
“The doctor spoke to the guys about the brands of berries which have been recalled and how we’ll handle that going forward,’’ Taylor said.
>
“We were having a meeting before training and the doctor wanted to talk to the players about it because a couple of the boys had said they may have eaten the berries
>
“So the doctor briefed the group about what hep A is and how it works. It was all very straight forward.
>
“Now they’ll get a test, like anyone else would.’’

Reality if you read rather than look at a headline is the Club being Pro-active

We're not dumb Geo , yes the club is being pro-active . But it's another back page headline the club doesn't need 3 weeks out from the start of the comp IMO .

Quit being so over dramatic. A headline the club doesn't need is one along the lines of John Sutton and Luke Burgess. All it is is reporting a possible illness. Its hardly a headline that will destabilize the club when there are direct quotes from the coach and Ceo. It isn't some bs story made up by journos.

"Wests Tigers cover up Hepatitis scare" is a much worse headline. Makes sense to be open about this, especially since its a non issue.
