What a poorly coached team

Why did Madge choose Chee Kam to play a full 80? We must be very short of good forwards if he is an 80 minute player..

That was a strange one, yes.

Look at Chee Kam's entire career and he has played poorly EVERY time he starts / NEVER been able to go 80/

He is a poor player, who on rare occasions can give you 15 mins each half of decent play when bigger forwards are tired.

That is it.

I don't know what everyone on here expects - they are an ordinary squad that is always going to push for the 8 during the season but will always finish somewhere between 9 and 14. A lot of these guys in a good side i.e. rorters, storm would do well because they are bit players that perform off the back of top players. We have no top players so these guys are expected to step up and they just aren't good enough. We have tried to piece a team together from players who were over the hill or never quite good enough to make the top sides and some up and comers. I like that Madge is trying to clear out the overpaid underachievers but in all reality there aint much to replace them with.

@ElleryHanley we did finish 9th with Cleary it will be interesting where we finish this year ..

We finished 9th with Jason Taylor and everyone wanted to stone him to death. So I'm guessing anything worst than 9th means Madge should be burnt at the stake.

@diedpretty I would also like to see the coach at least put some effort into the squad he has atm ! I agree with what you said about trying to offload the dead wood .. tonight’s presentation of the team was a disgrace and I am very disappointed with the coach atm ! It is like HE has spat the dummy and could not give a crap with this bunch ... which IMO does not reflect well on him at all !

I agree with most here. It's obvious we do not have the quality players of most NRL clubs. It will be very hard to attract anything decent. I also think night games does not suit us at all. The more dew on the field the more hesitant we are and as we are a small side it's easier for the opposition to smash us.

@Madge
Obviously it would nice to have the roosters top 30...just trying to be a lil realistic

Pretty ugly match for Tigers fans, no doubt. Our plan A was playing with some luck and with absolutely no luck we had no plan B.

Some glaring mistakes from the coach. Why not play Lawrence in reserves for a couple of games? How does a winger going off for an HIA force a complete back line reshuffle? Long-range kicking?

Their first two tries were a case of fortune favouring the brave, and really took away any momentum that our team could have wrangled back, obviously it’s safe to say that we lack the ability to wrest back lost momentum .

Can’t help but feel that WankBest Stadium is no home for us, it may suit some people who live close to it but it will never be ours.

@Snake Challenge accepted. Our attack with Cleary was clustered and lacklustre and had no direction at all. While our defence was good, it relied mostly on scramble with a lot of missed tackles and no technique at all.

Maguire has brought structure to our team but even an NRL version of Sir Alex Ferguson could do nothing with this bunch. We've had 5 coaches in 8 years. Maguire is about the best coach on offer for us right now. I think it's time to stop whinging about the coach mate.

I don't think we are poorly coached but tonight we were definitely out coached. Maguire has made one too many changes and it showed. Mbye is our best fullback so how about he gets played there?

The Storm game was probably the best structure and footy I've seen from a Tigers team for ever. So I'm sure Maguire can coach. When the media stuff got to Mbye and Mats being shopped I thought things could be getting a little unstable. The Lawrence thing was a head scratcher. I'm happy the coach is nuking the roster.

Hard to see where the 'new cattle' is going to come from though. Apart from DWZ, ain't much available. Maguire seems to have torpedoed this season by shopping all and sundry to anyone stupid enough to take any of this rabble. Still, it's his neck on the block.
I too, find the decision to play Lawrence very strange. It's not as if McQueen wasn't going too badly. And he would have been a bigger body out there than Lawrence as well. Rowdy must have lost 5 kg or more off his frame I would guess.
Ah well - always next year. Sigh!

This thread is a joke. Every year there's a selection of us that start to circle the wagons and blame the coach. I'll say it again, the dysfunction started when Brian Smith was given a licence to offer his opinion of our finals bound side with Potter at the helm. I'm glad he sorted that out for us. We're yet to recover from that decision. Player turnover, has beens being re-signed, poor contracts done by a coach with his head in another space.....
Madge needs more than 3 years to turn this horror show around. It's starts with every single player being accountable.

The display on the field is what's a joke.
Highly embarrassing... cbf anymore.... I can visit the local park footy on Sunday to watch lopsided rubbish RL... Bugger rushing home from work and battling traffic, walking in rain to watch that crap
