What do we do at hooker?

The 9s aren’t your biggest problem at the moment

Ive no problem with Liddle, but he isnt an 80 minute man. I also think Simpkin has a big future but is a couple years off belonging in first grade. I think our best option currently is to start one and have the other on the bench, however, if there is a bigger body that can start a game and provide a running threat that as a middle forward i'd like us to sign them for 2 years whilst we see how Simpkin develops.
Smith would be ideal but wont happen. Havilli a possible option. Erin Clark would fit the type id be looking for but he is at Titans 'til 23. Not sure who else who would fit that description, maybe Ray Stone though i don't really rate him. Both Pride Petterson Robati and Jazz Tevaga are contracted but seem to be out of favour at Warriors Maybe Darby Medlyn from Canberra.
Probably other areas id look to first before id worry about hooker but that is what id be thinking.

It’s a huge part. The slow/poor service from 9 is killing any chance of attack.

No idea why no one has tried to sign Matt Parcell currently in super league.

Came on the scene and looked good in the NRL, disappeared to England and was never spoken of again....

Wow that’s someone I haven’t thought of in a while. From memory he was pretty good too, doing a quick google search it seems he was super fast in his prime and has a good running game.

When he left Manly he is quoted as saying that he thought his running game was better suited in ESL hence the request for a release.

He could be better suited to the faster game nowadays though with Liddle and Simpkin both contracted for the next couple years at least I’d say we aren’t in the market for a hooker unless they are marquee.

He was like Damien Cook style.
Very slick skills.

No idea why he bailed

Madge's rigid rotation aside, I really don't mind how it is right now. Simpkin needs all the minutes he can get and Liddle is solid enough. long term though, Simpkin is the future, but that doesn't mean Liddle can't feature either. would love for Simpkin to start and Liddle to come off the bench, he could be a real asset with his speed and running game around a tired ruck.

Think that sounds good. Liddle may be better against tired defences either side of half time. Simpkin getting the ball out in front for Stef and co while they are fresh

Agreed, we need both in the 17 at the moment.
Madge always seems to leave Liddle on for 5~10 min too long. It's like he waits for him to miss a crucial tackle or make an error due to exhaustion until he makes the change. Must have set minutes that can not be changed for each player every game.

I think that they both have a lot of upside. Liddle is strong in defence save the Pangai effort today - but 10m out from your own line is not the place for defenders to drop off & go for a strip.

He again chose the right time to run from dummy half and set up a try.

I would like the coach to show a bit of flexibility and find a point in the game where you can have both on the field at the same time

2 hookers is the way to go For the future.

Liddle goes well until he tires.
Needs replacing around the 30 minute mark in every game.

Yeah need two hookers these days with one being able to play lock, back row.

More than enough, remeber many on this forum wanted him to be injured at least 70% of the season. The next year he will be better for this experience! :tiger2:

Liddle has been one of our best attacking options this year. I'm sure he's scored 4 or 5 tries and would have a number of assists when he's broken out of dummy half. We have to remember he's coming off a significant surgery - he'll be better next year.

i think a different rotation with them both in the lineup would be a slution. Like liddle for 30 then jake for 30 and liddle to finish. They both show a lot of potential and offer different things.

At 13 mins to go in the first half - i was hoping madge would bring on liddle. Could see he was gassed and simpkin could of pushed them hard.

Anyway then liddle goes the soft option and TPJ scores

Before AD got injured my thought was Hastings at 14 coming on at dh for 10 mins either side of halftime then remaining on as lock. Pushes Twal back into Prop rotation at that point as well. Liddle would be my first choice to start. Simpkin needs more time to build his game.
But now with AD out, Hastings may be needed more in the halves unless Madden improves and can step up.
The fact that we have 2 hookers incapable of playing strongly for 80 is a problem that the top teams do not have to worry about.
