Simpkin doesn't look out of place in first grade, which for a 19 year old and at a hooker, means he's doing pretty well. Very few hookers have come into the league at that age and looked good from the get go. Even Grant last year was 22 when he got his first full-time run in first grade.

Give Simpkin one more year in reserves with a few starts in FG and he should be ready to star in 2023.

Joey Lussick at Eels is who i would go after. Strong defender, good attacker and will come cheap. I am not sold on Liddle tbh. I think Simpkin will get better as i like his attack although his passing needs to improve.

I like the look of Simpkin at the moment. I think he has a higher ceiling than Liddle. It’s a shame that COVID has basically prevented him from playing regularly the past two years. I think he would have been further along in his development and would have been in a position to make a fist of the starting 9 jersey.

I like his inclusion on the bench but cannot understand why Madge doesn’t bring him on earlier. Liddle gasses around the 30min to 35min mark so having him come on around 30min and playing until say the 60min mark makes sense to me. You can bring Liddle back on to make an impact.

Wouldn't be surprised to see Hastings start at lock next season (depending on who Madge goes with in the halves of course) and when Lids or Simpkin needs a rest Hastings moves to 9. The way he plays in UK now he takes a lot of the pressure of the dummy half by jumping in and taking a quick carry etc. Definitely versatile.
