What is the pass mark for Sheens and the team ??

I'm looking for a few things

Improvement with our juniors coming through is important whether they are improving and gaining greater skills

Improvement where we finish the season We need to at least make a GF qualifier barring injury issues (IE Marshall or Farah )

I don't think making the Top 4 or winning a premiership is the be all and end all

As long as the club is still heading in the right direction with performances ,recruitment . bringing the juniors through

But if we don't improve we really need to look at our future Whether it be our playing style ,coaches and coaching or even our senior playing staff and that includes Marshall

Being one of the greatest players in the world doesn't guarantee he will help win us a premiership

What do you think the pass mark for our season will be and if we don't achieve it what should we look at doing ??

When discussing the merits of a new coach somewhere down the line….most here will only accept those coaches up with the best is acceptable.

I guess the results those best coaches achieve is applicable when gauging Sheens.

As for the team, premiership favourites over the offseason, unfairly imo with half and hooker still at that stage up in the air.

Coach and team are one in this regard, all on the same page

At a minimum, make the eight.

If we don't make it look at our recruitment and player selection. I believe we have the cattle, we just don't pick the right sides, and we don't often have stability. I will never understand why Sheen's moves players out of position to fill holes without any real gain when he has other options. i.e. Moltzen to FB, when we had other options (Ryan) and a glut of wingers.

Constant positional changes have caused instability and inconsistency in this team and it always will until we have a new coach, which will probably be never. I simply cannot understand Sheens' penchant for wanting his players to learn to play every position on the field and the incessant shuffling of players to accommodate for injuries. With this roster top 4 would be the pass mark, minimum.

100% agree, the constant shuffling of players is ridiculious for a coach of his standing, and a top 4 spot is a bare minimum with our roster, but even if we miss the 8 Sheens will have his excuses ready just like 06,07,08,09,so nothing will change. :crazy

Not sure about the pass mark for this year.

I personally think we missed the grand final boat in 2010 and 2011 and won't see another opportunity for some time. The injuries this year certainly haven't helped, the loss of our new fullback so early on didn't bode very well for the year. I'm not all that confident about next year either to be honest, the loss of Ellis is big, Blair hasn't really stepped up to the plate and I really wish we'd kept Bryce.

The way we lost against the Knights is fairly troubling, to capitulate like we did was awful. The lack of commitment, it was like watching one of the games early on in the year.

Are other sides, the top ones, actually more committed or is it only a perception of being more committed?

In the end, I would like to see players like Benji and Robbie to be able to finish their career with at least 2 grand final wins, but I guess there's a lot of great players out there that have never even competed in a grand final let alone won one.

being straight to the point:

you enter and play in the NRL for one reason, and one reason only, to win the competition, be champions for that season. if that has not been acheived, then in reality the season, has not been a success. :unamused:
let's not kid ourselves, you dont play any game, in which two teams are competing to finish second.

if and when wests-tigers reach the grand final this season, then an acceptable pass mark has been achieved.

no sugar coating this, anything else, is plain and simply not good enough. :imp:

I think in terms of playing. The minimum is to make the 8\. But what is actually expected is not the minimum. Quietly i don't think there'd be a player who didn't honestly believe they could make the GF qualifier. Though looking at the top teams, Melbourne, Bulldogs, Manly and Brisbane in particular, it means making the final four wouldn't be a bad result at all. Falling short of that is a distinct possibility. However if we play well and stay fit i believe we're as good, if not better than the above mentioned.

Off field success will as always focus on two main points. Development and sponsorship. Those two areas we are in a healthy state for the foreseeable future. I don't see our success here being questioned.

I honestly do not live my life on a tigers win ,but i would like to see a consistant side with the roster we have. With Sheens its a what team has turned up this week and its usually evident after 5 minutes .
CONSISTANCY .

There is something not right at Concord thats for sure nothing to serious …Sheens is a good coach no doubt the injuries at the start and progressively though the season have been a hinderence for the coach .My main issue is the constant selection of underperforming players, the non use of lower grade players in specialist postions (short term)-instead upset the structure of the team to fill one spot then weaken the other why bother having any lower grade teams!.The Big issue is Attitude one looks no further than 2 games this season Souths/Newcastle this says it all to me as a supporter there is a major attitude problem at the Tigers,I believe this is the coaches input or lack of.. there is still a long way to go it's better to be going strong at the end than the beginning I just hope there is an attitude change quickly ..I don't like to seeing this team of talented individuals getting lapped by nuffies!Sheens has to lift his game for the remander of the season.

Top 8 is the standard 'pass' mark for all teams… I'm fine with how the season is progressing and still believe we will be in the Top 8 somewhere.

Give the boys a few more weeks to hit there straps, and I wouldn't be surprised to see us go on another winning streak right through to the Grand Final...

Tigers vs Souths GF is still looking good!!!

Since day one nothing has changed, their is such a massive difference between our very best and our very bad days. The good teams tend to be able to get their bad performances and good performances much closer. Really so far this year we have performed very badly when you consider our draw and I cant see us getting anywhere above 7th and that would be a total failure. I wonder what bench mark the board have given Sheens, the same as every other year I would imagine-none

i dont consider the end results as the way to decide in this case. it's the journey throughout the season that is important. the team lacks consistency, and has as long as i can remember.

the end result is affected by a lot of things, injuries, suspensions, orgin duties, form etc. however, throughout the season, the most important thing is how much effort you put on field and how hard you try and that whether you're giving 100%.. that's what us as supporters wanna see. we want our main players to stand up and play an attacking brand of footy.

tbh, such inconsistencies in attitude have already angered me and no doubt many other supporters.

yes watto that's what every team strives for at the start of the season top 8 then if they are in a good position just past mid season they will hope for a top 4 position.to say anything less then a grand final win….so 15teams have a fail...haha

Pass mark for 2012:

Considering the big build up to 2012 and recruitment of Blair and significant depth in other areas of the team AND the fact we have finished top 4 last 2 years, anything LESS than top 4 in 2012 is one big FAIL.

The 5 loss streak will really hurt us. I dont think we'll make the top 4.

One of the biggest things that still annoys me about Sheens is team selections. The shuffling of the decks is frustrating. I would like to see straight swaps when impacted by injuries. So far we've played our two centres at five-eight, a backrower in hooker, and centres in the back row. The two backs on the bench thing as well needs a change. Ayshford and Reddy aren't back rowers. By keeping the same 17 and mixing players around in different positions, we're really stunting our junior development. The juniors will really benefit from getting small tastes of FG and playing a few games here and there.

I thought at start of season…top 2 (or top 4 would be a pass) and a grand final performance, anything less is a fail.
