So which players pick themselves Round 1 v Saints

Some do
1 Tedesco : best player in his position by a fair way
2 Richards : Goalkicker
3 : up for grabs
4 : up for grabs dependant on fitness of Simona
5 Nofoaluma : easily our best winger
6 : up for grabs
7 Brooks: Looks to be our No 1 option by a long way
8 Woods : our best prop
9 Farah :Our best hooker
10 Keefy :If fit ,if not up for grabs
11 Fulton : Our workhorse ,will help out our defensive flaws of our halves
12 : up for grabs
13 : up for grabs

14 : up for grabs
15 : up for grabs
16 : up for grabs
17 : up for grabs

The spots I have marked up for grabs have numerable options we could choose

This is why the trials WILL carry great importance for our club , I reckon Potter will pick on form , not reputation (Thank God )

Happy I agree are all walk up starts with the exception of perhaps Richards (who i think will play, but may be some conjecture, and he may play in the centres)
Fulton will be in the side, and most likely in the second row, but could play at lock or off the bench.
Lawrence will be there, Blair and Anasta will be somewhere in the 17.

Id also be surprised if they dont find a jersey for Sirro somewhere.

I think Rowdy shouldn't be a walk up if he hasn't found some of his old form , we probably in the position we can bring in Lulia or even Nofoaluma

In Sirro case I'm hoping that he will be fit Round 1

Anasta is probably first choice @ 6 , but if Austin comes out and kills it , he probably compliments Brooks better

Blair will probably be chosen Round 1 , but if he can't maintain his workload and doesn't show some improvements he shouldn't be a lay down misere

The problem we need to look at is we just hand jerseys out , they just don't seem to be earned

Now we have some depth , your jersey should be earned with some blood ,sweat and tears :sign:

I think Lawrence is a walk up, same with Blair, Sironen, Sue and MAYBE dene as well.

dene and blair will probably be on the bench. Cant imagine anything but Sironen, Sue, Fulton for 2ndrowers/lock in round 1 bar injury. Hopefully they don't try blair out there again, and halatau is a bit old but he could push sironen out you never know.

Siro has the number 12 jersey I'm 90% sure and unless he gets a fresh injury (touch wood) is 100% as of now so will play r1.

And lets go down that same ol road where we pick guys on what they did in 2010 and 2011 or in Dene's case 2005 :unamused:

What are we trying to teach these blokes ,that mediocrity will be accepted as the norm yet again

Lets go in with a open mind and pick the form players from the trials and training like the other clubs do for a change

Looks like the Sheensification will take a few years to clear yet

Haven't you all been going to your "deSheensification " TAFE course like we were instructed to do

I'm not picking lawrence, im saying he WILL start if fit in round 1\. That's potters decision.

But, I do think he deserves a chance, injury free. With simona injured we don't have anyone. It'll probably be lulia lawrence, unless one of our wingers is any good at centre like richards or nofo.

And dene offers a lot more than metres and tackles, he offers experience to other players without playing like crap (i.e. Anasta). I asked my bulldog's friends what they thought of dene before telling them we'd signed him and they all said he was a solid player and were disappointed that we'd got him. I think he will be on the bench and has a lot to offer in our FG team.

Wonder how many clubs will be thinking "Sh&t ,The Tigers have picked Dene Halatau this week "

none.

Same for any of our other back rowers. "Oh no! not Sironen or Fulton! what will we do?"

But we still have to pick our best team, and I think that, with the limited info we have, includes Dene and paterson on the bench for round 1\. We don't have many other class back rowers. For props, i'm happy to drop taupau or blair if they don't go very well for ava or buchanan in round 3 if needed.

I think clubs will watch Sirro especially when he starts getting some quality ball in a structured set up

Over the past years, since Dene left us in fact, he has never been dropped to reserve.

The Bulldogs have been one of the gun sides over the past few years and he has always been picked in their team.

Enough said.

Yes Col , and if we had a forward pack the size of the Bulldogs I'd agree with Dene or Fulton on the bench

But we don't , last season we were probably the lightest forward pack in the NRL

I read a stat the other day that Dene was averaging only 18 minutes per game this year.

He will certainly be getting more time at WT.

Everyone is complaining about the size of our forward pack and in particular our back row , yet we continue with having lightweights getting dominated :brick:

I love this thread (Thx Happy) especially through these December doldrums…

Lawrence is a walk up as is Blair. One doesn't leave his highest $$$ staff on the bench for game one as it sets a negative tone for the entire year. These guys will be given 1st crack at playing themselves back into form.

Sirro and Tupau are in my mix as in the top squad for round especially the latter who was touted as a recruitment coo.
