What Potter should do

Alright, here's my thoughts on where we are at. We'll be very lucky to make the 8 right now, BUT i think we can do it; the team just needs to have belief and persevere through what I think is the nadir of the season. Can't get much worse in my opinion 😛ray:

Firstly. Drop Lawrence, his time in first grade seems to have unfortunately come to a close. Sad, i know he was an amazing prospect before his injury but not any more… He let in something like a good 8+ points today in a tight game. Either Simona or Brien should get the call up.

Next, Tedesco to fullback. We looked a lot better in attack with him there and moltzen at wing. That should be the go for next week if Anasta is playing. If he's not that creates big problems; i'm not sure how moltzen will handle halves after playing fullback for so long, who knows how he is nowadays. It'll be Potter's call on Miller/Sirro or Moltz/Sirro I think, he can see how they are at training. but Miller/Sirro is likely to get dominated vs Broncos at Brisbane.

Next, forwards. Not too bad, they need to keep doing what they're doing and prevent further injuries. Bodene will be back next week which will help a LOT. A little reshuffle around that, probably go back to the line up vs storm. I desperately hope Buchanan and Woods will be there vs Broncos. Also, keep moving around the bench players to get the best out of them, dont need to have Sue playing 40min a week for the season because some of the bench players will burn out/get injured especially the younger ones.

This way, I think we are promoting the attack, defense as well as a general structure to our team and allowing for injured players to return. If we can somehow string together a win against the Broncos we will be set for the season.

Bar further injuries, we will definitely see a rise in performances over the season as Potter can mould the team more and injured players return. Bodene's coming abck, Koro's back in a couple of weeks, then Benji and soon after Groat and down the track we can look forward to Gavet and Galloway making their way into the squad too. Not all doom and gloom at the tigers guys! :sign:

We can make a run into the final 7 or so matches with a lineup kind of like this:

1\. Tedesco
2\. Moltzen
3\. Ayshford
4\. Brien/Simona
5\. Koroibete
6\. Benji
7\. Anasta
8\. Woods.
9\. Farah
10\. Galloway
11\. Bodene
12\. Blair
13\. Bell
14\. Fulton
15\. Ava
16\. Pettybourne
17\. BMM
18\. Sironen

Pretty ferocious compared to what we came up with today i think

I'd shift Lawrence into the forwards before giving up on him completely. He could quite possibly turn into a Luke Lewis type player. Obviously would need to bulk up a bit first. So sad that its come to this with him, he was on the verge of greatness, until one horrific injury. Just thinking about it as i type has me a little 😢

And P.S leave me out of Groat. I know i've been critical and have received criticism for being critical but i think its totally justified and Buchanan has proven my point. Groat isn't a first grader

I agree. One thing is our team is running straight much more than last year which is good.

Lawrence and Moltzen are our biggest problems. When Tedesco is 1, Lawrence is gone, and we have Benji, we will score enough and defend well enough. I think Potter can see it, looking forward to finding changes. Hope it happens.

I think Siro could be a cracking center, I would think about putting him in for Lawrence. Lawrence could maybe have a stint in the forwards of the bench.

Buchanan being a freak and handling the jump straight into first grade proves nothing about Groat.

Definitely not doom and gloom. I'm going to reserve judgement on anything until the results of scans come up (fingers crossed).
We showed what we were capable of last week. We played very averagely and only got beaten by a point in the end today.
This big turn around should give Potter more time to re-evaluate, hopefully mend some injuries and get more players game ready, get our halves combo playing together for the whole time between these games regardless who it is (6/7 days is not long enough for a halves combination to get much going - who knows how much time they practiced together as well - Not necessarily persist with same combo but pick one and stick with it, no more potential options please).
Hopefully Potter gets familiar with Prince's game.

Had considered Sirro at centre, but I have read several accounts of a lack of lateral movement which would not work in a sliding defence. I think he can move into a ball playing lock as many have suggested by 2014/15\. Even a ball playing second rower is doable. Wouldn't mind having a second rower like fulton who can cover every position bar fullback/wing but still make damn good metres.

Yeah it does. Proves theres now one more prop ahead of him in the pecking order. The guy has showed nothing in my eyes, only thing that stands out is the fact he cost us big time in the Warriors semi

He defended in the centres last season v the Bulldogs and was found out for his lack of lateral movement

Wouldn't even consider Sirro in the centres for a second. Definitely would like to see him play in the back-row or at lock. Has a handy little step on him too.

Yeah, agreed kh. Can't see too much room in the halves for him but he can turn into a damaging utility runner. Make a break over a smaller guy and have a handy offload or even a kick. We have braith, moltz, miller, brooks, benji and moses. Too many halves. Moltz to wing and sirro to the forwards to help that situation out in the long term.

I so much hope that Potter is thinking the same way. Things definitely improved late in the game yesterday when Tedesco moved to fullback and Moltzen moved to wing. Moltzen can play at 1/2, 5/8, centre or wing. Lawrence can come into the game off the reserve bench to second row, lock or centre and with fresh speed would likely cause trouble to the opposition as they tire later in the game. Wests tigers are fortunate to have players such as Simona, Nofalauma, Brien and Sironen which would be right up to first grade standard.

Teddy to 1,and we need a halfback(Brooks),whilst Soward was killing us,Anasta was unsighted, fix those 2 things and we are half way there.

Cool thanks, didn't catch him there. As long as Lawrence & Moltzen are moved, that's the main thing for me. Sironen needs to have a spot in the team somewhere, he looks dangerous with the ball. It won't be the halves though, when Benji is back anyway.

We should give Mick Potter a chance. He's only been there for 5 mins and we want to get rid of him :crazy
I think he is making some good choices, he can't help our injury woes, and that is what our problem is at the moment.
Not sure about Moltzen, only that he seems to be the one getting all our tries, so I think he needs to be in the team somewhere 😕 Tedesco is shaping up very well  Please give Mick Potter a break

Exactly, top scorer at the tigers 3 for moltz, 3 for benji. Keep him at wing, faster than reddy I'm sure. Good aerial game, why the hell not!

Anasta was badly injured while Soward was killing us…crawled off the pitch.

Groat has dominated at every level he has played and I believe he will also do so in first grade. Last year he was too young to be playing all those games in NRL and injury plus a loss of confidence saw his form suffer. This was a coaching issue, not the player's fault.
Perhaps we should all stop death riding our team and particularly our youngsters like Matt Groat.

1\. Drop Lawrence. Replace with Simona
2\. Replace Reddy with speed on the flanks. Nofo or Simona
3\. Convert Moltzen to a winger (has pace and loves a score a try. give him a roving role)
4\. Teddy permanent full back
5\. Stick with Anasta a half back and blood Brooks in State Cup against men.
6\. Get Marshall to run the ball and take on the defence
7\. Pick the biggest pack to start each week. Woods, Galloway, Legend, Thompson, BMM and Blair
8\. Fulton to start from bench with Buchanan, Bell and Ava/Pettybourne
9\. Never pick that ex Penrith hooker muppet again
10\. Rotate the young forwards for experience and not to be burnt out.
