What we need to do in the long term

We need to resign our best young players before they wise up get the s*** and look elsewhere.
Players know who can play and who can't…unlike our recruitment team.

They see us resigning players like Fulton and signing players over 30 and think.. Well life ain't going to get much better here in "plodders paradise", I might take up that offer from Manly or Souths or Roosters.

I hear ya Irvine, but there is also some method to the madness of keeping older players around if done correctly. For instance if we end up with a primarily young backline next year then Richards is a good buy if he has a couple of good years left in him.

Likewise if all these young forwards come through. For this reason I would keep Galloway. But we do need to be more selective to do it properly… right now Blair is wasting our money, Anasta was NOT an astute signing...

In regards to the playing roster we need to recruit a quality centre, halfback, prop and a backrower with some aggression and impact. I would love to have Hodkinson as our halfback for next year or Sam Williams if we weren't able to sign Hodkinson. We need to get rid of Reddy, Spence, Utai, Tuqiri, Miller, Matt Bell, and Iosefa to begin with to free up some cap space to make significant offers to off contract players from other clubs. I think we really need to start playing more direct too. Benji's across field running negates the wonderful lines that our centres and even backrowers run and gives the opposition defence time to adjust more often than not. I've seen him play direct before so he has the ability to do so. Our lateral defence is woeful and needs adjusting immediately as Lawrence makes terrible reads and leaves his winger stranded alot. Off field we need to get the proposal for the redevelopment sorted Balmain leagues club sorted and stop the Wests vs Balmain bickering on the board. I don't think either side is considering we our now a joint venture now and that we need to move forward and thats from someone who was raised as a Balmain supporter. I'd like to see a change to our marketing strategy and have the club try and involve former players from Wests Tigers, Balmain, and Wests more as part of our pitch to fans in the membership drive but also in general within the club.

Folkes back to teach us to defend and condition us properly.Potters biting off more than he can chew with amatures working underneath him. Our coach needs the boys to be fit he needs to get the plan right and the attitude right and he needs to know his players can defend!!! We also need a new recruitment manager.

Gee, I don't think think any of those blokes are on big coin, esp. Spence. I agree it might be time for Utai, Reddy and Tuqiri to move on, but you're probably going to be replacing them with players of similar quality if you have no money to fork out. I'd be keeping Bell for sure.

100% agree.

IMO the club would benefit from completely restarting.
Send everyone packing. And then re-establish itself next year/2015.

The only one sent packing was Sheens..the others are still there making the same peanut decisions on recruitment and selection. Why are they keeping their jobs.
Everyone blamed Sheens yet its the same with Potter, Poor recruitment and players playing out of position…same same same.

You hit the nail on the head.

yep. havent been too unhappy with potter's work so far given the injury toll. Things really didnt go our way in a game we were pretty much destined to lose and made a bad game an atrocious game. It probably shoulda been 40-14 or so based on performance for either side i reckon. A hiding, but somewhat respectable.

And he has replaced positions well, the only slightly off one was bodene to centre. Woulda preferred simona there and bodene in second row as usual. Another one is badly timing farah's break, that shoulda been thought out before and taken off during eels or penrith. Besides that he has been level headed and good.

Finally, he has instilled some DESIRE in the team maybe not so much in benji (not 100% last night i doubt) but the rest definitely. We were simply outclassed by a bigger and better drilled team (reigning minor premiers too) who JUST hit some form. $10 says that a sheens team with such drastic injuries would have had fulton in the backs and given up after 50minutes.

Bodene Thompson playing centre…Why when we have a specialist in Tim Simona.

I don't consider Richards or for that matter signing any player over 30 as good recruitment. Even Blocker on 2GB today was asking "What's doing" with our recruiting.
Resigning Liam Fulton I also consider a poor decision.
Same Same Same

I think Liam's service at WT provides a salary cap discount??? (Even with his time in UK)

Thus, his $200k may only take up $100k of cap space = good value.

I know it's never going to happen, but I'd like to see a complete overhaul of all staff except Potter.

That is, strength and conditioning, full coaching department, trainers etc.

Let Potter bring in his own assistant, his own staff. The place rots from the head and it's rotten alright.

Needs to happen sooner rather than later….they all need to go.
We have so many injuries particularly our young guys and recruitment is diabolical.
They all need to be moved on some have lived a charmed life for 10 or more years .
Lets start again with Potters people.
