What's So Attractive About Cronulla?

Remember Elle MacPherson was their No 1 supporter at one stage

And Elle's Dad, Peter Gow, once cut his jersey in half after a loss, a bit like Don Lane smashing his watch after a Souths defeat….. But you're right ht, it must have been good with "The Body.'"

Didnt Luke Lewis choose them over us because of location?

Don't think so. From what i remember hearing, he made a verbal agreement with us then turned round at the 11th hour and signed with the Sharks. If that's true, i can't see it being about location.

Dunno if it was agreed on, I was there when the CEO was waiting for the call….
- The next day he had signed elsewhere.
If it was agreed on, He wouldn't have been sweating on that call.

a viewing time of their trophy cabinet wouldn't take long- they haven't got anything in it.

multi cultural beach relations wouldn't be a drawcard either.

Unfortunately I remember that day very well

The location is excellent, as is the lifestyle for players with families and single players. The commute to the CBD is easy which is important if you are studying at Sydney Uni or have employment other than football.

There is a good CEO in place and the Sharks have a good arrangement with Bluestone which is building the development next to the ground. The development is proceeding nicely.

The Sharks appear to be able to identify good young talent such as Bird and the young winger/centre from North Queensland. The junior teams are stacked with talent and have done well. The club did lose their Aust Schools Centre to the Storm but the Leader did report they picked up another Aust Schools Centre from Queensland as well as the Broncos Junior Kangaroo centre.

Full credit to the club which has turned things around on and off the field. The local community almost have a siege mentality and home games are always well attended. The community’s willingness to throw its support by Gallen is remarkable in view of what happened.

just think how bad our cap would be if lewis had signed, we would be looking at 2020 to balance the books .lol

Or Benji was still here this year….
Ridiculous!!
Our plan (In 2012) foe this year was to have Farah (who we apparently can't afford) Lawrence ( Who's been asked to look around) Benji (Who is gone) Blair (Who is gone) and Luke Lewis (Who thank god never came) All playing for West Tigers.
- And still somehow be able to lock up our kids coming through???
Our cap would be fried with just the players listed....

Ahhh what a plan it was....

Just from general observation it looks like the Sharks admin has turned around even though there have been some hiccups eg dramas with nrl players and junior referees but generally the Board, CEO look to be pushing the club forward. In addition to this they have the major residential development on their land providing funds plus they have some quality players now who attract other quality players. The perception is that they are not the struggling club they were a few years ago which provides confidence in recruitment.

Well said Cunno. And they will continue to grow stronger as a club. I can see them making the top eight consistently from now on.

great spot to live and still very affordable compared to any other beach suburb in sydney. they have a few name players who are widely respected like gallen and lewis and apart from the 2014 debacle have been in the finals for what, 4 of the last 5 years. with the sharks development going through they will be financially independent for decades. have probably the best 2 20 year olds in the game in bird and holmes.

also the fairtale of being apart of the first premiership side for the club would be attractive.
