Whats Teddy worth ??

I'd say at least 400 k a season

We should be offering him at least a 4 yr 1.6 million contract

Is that a reasonable figure ??

He'd be a great ambassador for Oral B with those teeth, so they can pay him $300k and we will top him up with another $150k in the Salary Cap!

Probably. Ayoub would know

At the risk of being howled down by the pack - and this is just my OPINION - now, lets see - $1.6M?

Considering he has played two spectacular games and a bunch of good games coming off a couple of injuries - i think he should knock Mayer over in the rush to sign and sign quick.

I think there is a lot of hype around him at the moment for some reason - i ain't saying he doesn't have potential , but potential is just that, it needs to be realised to be worth anything and i think its overs.

I tend to subscribe to the theory that a lot of the current media hype has been contrive (by who? i don't know - maybe Ayoub, maybe Mayer maybe the media in general) and it is definitely gonna cost us a premium over what we would have paid without it.

Look at Ben Hunt - i think he has as much if not more potential and there's barely a whisper and bet there isn't 1/10th of the hype whenever his next contract is due.

Also I think 850K for Fifita is extreme overs - i wouldn't pay that with my ex-missus's money.

Ben Hunt  that's hilarious. Please Willow get some more popcorn.

The only reason Hunt is in the team is because of his friendship with Anthony Griffin. He has struggled for 5 years to cement a 1st grade spot in fact they had to get rid of Wallace so he can play 1st grade this year.

His played how many NRL games 80 - 90 ? and he still looks like a rookie.
Hunt is 24 years old Tedesco is 21 and by the time Tedesco has played 80 NRL games he will be playing for Australia.

If you can pay Brooks and Moses 400k and Farah 900k then Tedesco should be well and truly worth somewhere in between.

salary cap is increasing people, it will be 7 million in the final year of his contract.

it was around 60% of that in 2012.

i'd say around 1.1 million on a 3 year deal with 1 year option for an amount to be agreed on then. also, i think he may be eligble for veteran discount in 2018 as that begins in juniors. 2011-2018\. but im not sure if it counts on the 8th year or after the 8th year.

dogs offered 900k for 3 years.

Well i suppose your argument is only valid if you think Farah is worth $900K and Moses $400K?
And re Hunt, well we will see. Not everyone becomes a legend after 3 FG games hey!

See, now this is where you need to be a great poker player to negotiate contracts.

In my opinion, I think a contract of $280K is fair for next year, and step it up to $300K, $350K and maybe $400K in the final year if he meets certain criteria.

I have no doubt he will be a star and he needs to stay a tiger, but he is young and in my view he hasn't earned a $400K a year contract. I know you run a risk of getting gazumped, but he needs to be reasonable too so that his mates like Nofo and Sirro are defending alongside him in the same jersey.

Maybe $280K is too low given you don't want to offend him. Glad someone else does this job, but I think if I heard he was already hearning $400K a year I would be dissappointed. We have blown up at Blair and he is only on $100K more. I think the Fifita deal has greatly overstated players value in the current market.

To be honest, he is worth up to 50k more per season than the competitors in the market for him, up to a ceiling of about $450k for me. Also I would damn well make sure he is on an incentive based salary to make his full wage, not one difficult to achieve, but somewhat protects us if his knee goes again.

Its a balancing act, we have to get him as cheap as we can, but enough to keep him somewhat happy and just out of competitors hands.

Pretty much agree with this. Also the higher we have to go to keep him the shorter the contract. If we have to go to $450k i would be only offering 3 years.

Leave me out of it thanks.

I think its a reasonable figure but to be a leading club i 100% believe you must pay a player what he is going to be worth in a years time.

In a years time he will be a 500 to 600k player and to keep him at the Tigers thats what you need to pay him to keep him.

Same goes for a player at the end of his career, you dont pay him what he was worth last year, you pay him what he is going to be worth to you in a years time.

The cap is tight it needs to be balanced.

350 max for mine.
This covers what he has shown us and what we hope he can in the next few years. If he lives up to expectations then he can demand huge money for his 25th birthday.
350 is generous if you ask me.

If you think 350k is generous than you are way out of touch with NRL salaries.

Michael Lichaa received 300k a year plus a car to join the bulldogs without even playing a 1st grade game.
David Klemmer was the same 333k a year before he had even played an NRL game.

On those figures 500k a year for the best off contract fullback available on the market for Raylene Castles would seem like a good buy.

as i said in an earlier thread on this, given the demand for, and increase in the importance of a good fullback in the current game, his "value" right now is probably a lot higher than it should reasonably be. he is in a good position right now to be a very promising young fullback, and because of this i think he is worth $400k/yr over 4 seasons.

i really think that both he and brooks are who the tigers will (and should) build the team around and invest heavily in. i dont think it will be the same mistake they made basing everything around benji and that he is worth it.

Club has no money. So what ever we pay to keep him it's going to be overs of what we can afford

Although both those guys reportedly got very good contracts, dont know if as high as the papers say, but these should not be your guideline for player payments.

Until the latest upgrades Foran and DCE were both on less than $250k…

Players are not paid as much as reported, if they were, every side would be miles over the cap!

I said earlier, blokes like Tedessco are very hard to value, because any contract is taking faith they will kick on, not all do of course. if you pay alot and they develop into the stars they can be, it is money well spent. If they dont, which happens all to often than you look like a fool.

The reverse is also true, if you dont pay the cash and someone else does, and they turn into a star you look like an idiot.

My gut feel is high 300's to early 400's would be somewhere near right, but very tough to say.
