Whats your Xmas tradition ??

Most people have a pretty well set tradition that they follow year after year

What is yours ??

Growing up it was always Christmas Eve dinner at my Grandparents and a typical English Christmas Dinner (minus the snow )

And then a typical Aussie Xmas Day at home or relatives of prawns ,hams ,salads and fruits galore

For the last 20 years it has been Xmas at my In Laws and mixture of prawns at brunch and then a mixture of Pork ,Turkey , Chicken and Duck dishes followed by Trifle and Christmas Pudding

Some years we then fly to Brisbane and spend time with my family down the Coast from Boxing Day until New Years

Great time of year (apart from adding about 5kg weight wise :roll )

All about Jesus in my very very large family.

My Church is in Regents Park Sydney and we do our best to continually remind the world around us that the messiah of prophecy was born in Bethlehem.

Added to this tons of food and presents.

I love Christmas.

We used to have Christmas breakfast with the parents of my son's mates (twins) but they have since sold up and joined the exodus to Qld but basically starting the day off having gotten on the drink I placed a great emphasis on 'not' being pissed by lunch time as the 25th December has a significant place in our family as it's my Daughters birthday, you will be amused to learn that my wife's name is Mary as well, happy 35th Birthday Amanda!.

Praise the rebirth of the sun gods.

Oh yeah, something about Jesus as well.

Hoping the sun gods turn it down to low on Wednesday

The In Laws have no air conditioning and with 18 people and cooking being done all day it will be an oven 😱pen_mouth:

We've had a bit of a family feud so it's just our direct family, small do at home. Roast lunch every year. then prawns and oysters for dinner that evening, and beers throughout the day. Downside is I do miss the big games of backyard cricket. Love watching National Lampoons at some point before Christmas, and that terrible Christmas movie with Ben Affleck.

Hitting tennis balls for six over the neighbours fence in a game of family cricket. Drinking way too much, gaining about 5kg from all the food and falling asleep during one of pa's "stories". Love Xmas. On a serious note as the oldest cousin in the family it is quite special to see how excited the young ones get and to get most of the family together (we don't get to see much of the family during the year).

Boxing Day test, the couch and a few hair of the dogs are always a great way to wind down.

Christmas is the time of year that I miss all those who have passed into the next life the most. Particularly the old bloke … Just not the same without him any more. Having said that, I still have Mum, brother, sisters, niece and nephew .... And they are all coming to me for Christmas .... No wonder I've been grumpy on the forum lately !!! Anyway, there's plenty of grub and grog in the fridge and they all seem to be looking forward to it so what do you do !!!

So for me it will be church, cemetery then chief cook and bottlewash. And as the forums much loved late Tigergran would have said ..... I wish you all a very Tigerly Christmas

Thinking of something a bit different with all the family coming to my joint this year. To show them just how well we all get along as a family, I was thinking of inviting a few names from this forum.

Maybe Mayer could pick up Potter and Ink on the way, and they could link up with Sheens, Knuckles and say Irvine for a good afternoon chat with FTB and GNR.

Looking like Happy might also be close to an invitation. Any more suggestions?

Xmas is my birthday, so we always do the Xmas Meal on Xmas Eve with the family. We alternate each year between Roast Duck/Baked Ham/Turkey with all the trimmings etc.

Xmas/Birthday Day is a pretty casual affair of Beer @ 6am followed by Street Cricket, Fresh Seafood and Sweets available day…

Being an old bastard, I'm usually snoring by 7pm, getting ready to take everyone's money on Boxing Day!

The Underdog tribe wander around Mt Annan checking out the christmas lights on Christmas Eve, catching up with friends as we go.

Up at the crack of dawn when the younger Underdog Spawn declare that santa has been.

Brekfast with My dad and his wife, they bring something, i cook something, then we recover with lunch at Mrs Underdogs Parents and the rest of the tribe.

dinner is what I actually enjoy the most - few close friends, we all come together around 6pm bring beer, and whatever leftovers we have, and pizza dough or crusty bread, re-cooked on a BBQ drizzled with a bit of olive oil and some some chopped herbs thrown in. We either make sandwiches, or pizzas, and they go down well with some peronis, or a batch faux-boutiques gotten on special a couple of days before.

Boxing day is obvious. There's a test on. End of discussion.

LOL, thanks mate!

Been lurking a bit here over the last few months due to circumstances. It's about time to start making decent posts again.

Don't worry about the spawn though - there is only two of them!
