When wil this team ever learn?

I don't blame the way they played as such our kicking game at times was ordinary and they had so much field position in the 2nd half . I'm annoyed that we seemed to sit back and think that Benji or Robbie were going to do something and get them out of this . We lacked the killer instinct tonight

look at the semis. if not for a missed goal we would have lost to the raiders too after totally dominating the game. roosters dragons games we had them and choked in both of those games.

Hardly choked vs the Dragons. We were hanging on for the last 30 minutes, almost waiting for the Soward field goal. Like tonight, there forwards ran harder and got over the advantage line and constantly got them into good attacking positions, while our forwards will rarely lumber us past our own 40-45.

Maybe its a fitness thing, we always seem alot slower than the opposition particular at the end (I.E the roosters game 2 weeks ago, we had all the ball, yet the few times they did get it, they were just cutting us up through the middle)

I agree with everything you say. That dragons game last year, and every other close loss gives me near heart attacks. It is just frustrating having the same crap for nearly all of our existance.

Whilst I respect your right to have an opinion and express it, this really I think the extent of your comments are unneeded. Yes, it has only just happened and you would be more frustrated, but really look hard at your comments, and if upon reflection after some time you still agree with them, then you really have a problem.

You may say we never learn or whatever, and because you blame everyone possible you have more passion, but that is just BS. That is really saying that people who don't call for the coach to be sacked after a loss aren't as passionate about the team as you, absolute rubbish! You may be passionate, but if you had any sense you should know how to control it.

I am just as depressed as anyone about that game, maybe even more so, but I haven't come on here and blasted everyone. The sun will come up in the morning, and life goes on. Losses like that are a part of football, and whilst we have a heart attack team, we can't have the exhilarating highs unless we have these depressing lows.

Like the cliche that the players will bust out this weekend, we need to put that game behind us and move on to next week, all of us (fans, supporters, members, whatever you want to call yourselves). Lets try to find solutions to the problems that we may have, realistic ones rather than the simple sack this player, sack the coach that happens, particularly when we lost an away game (and one on the Gold Coast for that matter) in the last minute by 6 points with 9 first graders sitting on the sidelines.

I get the feeling if we had played the opposite, as in scored our 14 points late in the game after playing rubbish for the first hour, people's opinions would be VERY different. The way we lost has accentuated our poor performance, and whilst this may be a good thing in the long run, we as fans/critics need to realise this and comment with logic and knowledge (or at least as much as possible in some special situations).

On the late changes, the fact that Woods didn't even play 20s tells me he is probably injured, whilst we can't really avoid any of the other changes. Realistically, with Woods gone, who else would you expect the coach to go for??

but the title of the thread is dead-on. I'll never understand how we can get a lead playing attacking football, or in tonight's case, just playing football, and then go away from that. KEEP ATTACKING - THAT'S WHAT GOT YOU IN THE LEAD IN THE FIRST PLACE!

Mostly it seems to be a tactical thing. Numerous times last season we had close games because we'd get a lead and then Marshall and Farah decided not to attack at the end of sets, just kicking for position. Whilst that's not a bad thing to do, it needs to be mixed up a little. We just aimed for touch or put in a kick to their 20\. It takes the sting out of the game.

I've read some people say the team is tougher now. Really? I do think we defend better but we've lost as many close ones as we win, and in the crunch I'm not sure if we have a leader. There are some core players on this team that have been on teams that lost plenty of winnable games over the years, and I'd thought they'd realise ones like this are the reason we are always 2 points outside the eight after 26 rounds.

Soon as it was 14-0 Marshall started lazily lofting the ball from taps and went missing. Miller, the most inexperienced player for either team, showed far more attacking intent than Marshall, which I was surprised by. Lui never got that much rope when he started, and I think it's because in the games Lui played, Marshall actually gave a shit. He was an invisible man tonight, and his team needed him more than ever with all of the injuries.

The others? Well, Moltzen made a fool of Sheens putting him at FB. Never again. The guy looks like he'll piss his pants everytime a bomb goes up. I think Moltz is great in the halves and centres though. Thought Latu played solid. Really wish Ayshford and Brown got more ball.

And Meaney kind of sealed his FG fate. The totally unnecessary penalty he gave on Bird, we were winning 14 - 8 at the time was it? And we lost 20 - 14? We conceded 12 points and lost the game over the duration of his period on the field. A try came as a result of said penalty. Not saying he lost it for us at all, but it hardly justifies this guy's reputation around here as a State Cup gun.
