When you can't manage a game

I've been saying for some time that we are not a smart footy team. We repeatedly make DUMB decisions in both defence and attack! It was just mentioned here that we only need an IQ of 80 to make the right decisions, and if that's the case the entire team seems to be way below that!
When was the last time you thought to yourself "wow, that was a smart play!"
Years ago for me.
Instead we put up with Keystone Cop defence, stupid forward passes, etc etc I'm sure everyone is all too aware of it... point is, we'll never manage a game without some smart footy brains in the team that are capable of it and can work together to organise our rabble!

You've got defensive issues when you can't number up when the opposition is a player short for 20 minutes

What happened to the blokes that v Dragons ..were pointing at attackers ...talking to each other ....communicating

If you come out of the line ...the bloke you are attacking should be asking how did a freight train get on to the field ....two weeks later after being in an induced coma while waiting for a new liver and kidney transplant ......seriously ....


How much of that comes back to wingers that would rather go the hero play and attempt an intercept than actually work hard and defend their line.

I just can't believe we got caught out on a short blind against 12 ......I'm still shaking my head now ....

It's not that simple and it's all to do with trust..and combinations

The defensive play to try and shut it down is used by every NRL team..the winger jams in to shut down the ball player...The TRY was scored ...Nofoaluma had no trust in Leilua or Doueihi to cover Walsh so did what they train to do..

This is where Maguire has also erred with his shuffling of players and both edges suffer..just like attack ...defensive combinations need time together to form..This year alone we have had Garner Leilua Leilua Doueihi Mbye Talau Roberts Kapoao Nofoaluma all playing on that edge yet not more than 2 games in a row in combination..

The top teams bar injury have stable defensive combinations that play together pretty much week in week out..

Our blokes defend like they just met each other most of the time because it's true..that's on the coach..
