Where do we go from here?

I am sure that no one runs out onto a NRL paddock and doesn't try their guts out for the entire game, which leaves me with one reason as to why we can't crack it in this comp … the majority of the squad may be great guys, they may be great trainers, they may have great press clippings ... but they just are not up to the standard of other NRL teams.
Let's look at yesterday's game. Our front row: without Sue we lack impact, both in attack and defence, we show no skills, our selectors are obsessed with statistics, sure our props run plenty of metres but they don't terrorise the opposition at all. Ava is the only prop that actually bends the line, Grant runs hard but is easily dominated as soon as the collision occurs, Woods will run all day, but the opposition just man up on him, hold him up for a while, set their defence and drop him to the ground - they know he is not going to break the line.
Our back row yesterday - too small, plenty of heart in lawrence and halatau but they need a couple of big boppers to take the heat off them, Sironen, I am afraid is just not up this standard of football, Taylor was good and with a bit of support will be a welcome addition. Aloiai impresses me, I would stick with him, Lovett is another in the worker bee mode, we have too many in the side, no impact.
The halves - sporadic is being kind. I honestly think Brooks will be a better player in the future if he spends the rest of the year organising a State Cup premiership, he needs his confidence rebuilt, it's not going to happen at the moment in the NRL. Moses has a go, but gets frustrated the more the game slips away, both halves have to learn patience, and they have to get in direct the rest of the team around - every play, whether it be with ball in hand, kicks to the corner or trailing around the runners.
Outside backs - big trouble here, plenty of ticker, but lack of size and panic options in both attack and defence, admittedly they are not getting much room to move in, with a benign forward pack and halves that rarely go to the line and through it, I can't believe that the bulldogs got away with a standard touch football move of stacking attackers to the short side, and got away with it time and again, who's talking in defence out there?
Okay, that's my rant over for the year, where do we go from here?

It's a good summation of our squad.
As for your question…we haven't hit rock bottom yet so look forward to that.

That part about Woods is very true.. He makes some good metres but that's about it - there's no real impact and his game is very one dimensional. With the position he ends up in in most tackles (standing there) you'd think he would have time to spin around and offload. Would be so much better if he brought something else like that into his game. But yeah, that's the least of our worries.. I don't know where to start with the rest.

i think we need offloads in the team i struggle to remember a single one VS the dogs, im sure there probably was but we seriously lack them and other teams offload against us for fun.

Farah has to go by 2017 season. Find him a super league deal and quick.
We cant move foward with him still clinging on.

i dont know,i suppose iam not a football analyst, but i always see woods as being one of our best players.
there has been a fair bit of criticism on this forum recently for his lack of grunt and offloading - but thats not what i see.i see a bloke who busts his backside every week in a below average side .

added to that,he has been expected to captain the side earlier in the year.

my biggest fear is losing woods, tedesco etc because they are sick of losing.- now that would be a reason
to be miffed.why would you stick with the tigers?

i know its ancient history, but terry lamb left wests to play with a better side,Canterbury.

perhaps woods is playing to coaches instructions.- run the ball up,retain possession and hope the halves can create something.

if woods plays state of origin, will we see a better player.i think so- and i betcha he offloads the ball as well.

john skandalis was very much the same type of player.
in the later part of his career .he began to offload and almost gained selection in the 2005 kangaroo squad as a result.

i love aaron woods and the tigers.
i hope for better times ahead,as we all do.

I believe our defence is the problem :bash
Fix our defence and we may start winning a few matches 😛ray: Please :brick:

We'll beat the Knights, even if it takes the worst drop goal you've ever seen in the last minute of GP to win 1-0, we will win. There probably won't be anything we can take out of it, but i just can't see us losing to this mob. For those who think we aren't at least capable of firing up after a shocker need not look further than the Souths game. If we turn up with the same attitude, we'll win by 30\. Not that that is an achievement against the Knights mind you.

I'm in.

It's desperate times, no doubt about it.

Woods was terrific in 2015 but that was an aberration. He is not entitled to the (C) next to his name; more than anything it shows the lack of options.

There's the bunch who are whole-hearted but not classy enough; Ava, Sue, Lovett.

There's the group whose best years are behind them; Farah, Grant, Halatau, Lawrence

There's the "Huh? I thought they were supposed to be better than that? group: Brooks, Simona, Noafoluma, Moses, Sironen.

With a decent effort between now and Rd 26, we'll avoid the wooden spoon.

You're right Sco77y. It's frustrating watching Woods just stand there with his hands free and not offload.
And i hate how slow he plays the ball.
