Where does Sheens rank Brown ??

Well compare it to uati. Both only got a year contract. One can bend at the waist, turn around, andcatch a high ball, and the other is on the field. I live Matty but I think he would be better coming on in the last 20mins and run out wild like another second rower out wide when defenders are tired.

I don't know that that is accurate coolcat. Brown's manager didn't appear to think so anyway in this article dated 19 October 2011:

Tigers coach Tim Sheens is wary of releasing the versatile Brown but, according to Orr, would contemplate offloading him if he was offered a lucrative deal elsewhere.

''Tim loves having Mitch,'' Orr said. ''Someone like him is excellent because he can play on either side of the field in different positions. [The Tigers] have allowed me to go out and Tim is happy for us to look around.

Although Tim Sheens had allowed Brown to speak to other clubs, he was acting on Brown's best interest in letting him look for a better deal. If we get injuries then I believe Brown will get another opportunity, but I don't think form will be enough to get him into the team.

Brown missed the Eels trial due to injury, if he's ok to play this week I'm sure he will get a run for Balmain/RE or off the bench in firsts.

I think Mitch is seen as a vital part of our team but we are just loathe to put him into one particular spot because his versatility so strong.

Its a long season, there will be injuries and Mitch will get his opportunity.

This isn't the most unbiased comment out there. Orr gets paid to talk Brown up. If Sheens was quoted it might be different. And the only talking Sheens has done was with selections. And brown isn't being selected no matter how well and consistent he plays. My heart goes out to brown.

Brown has been with the Rehab Group most of the Pre-Season… There is a big chance Brown isnt being selected because he is still injured. Unless you know something different, this is all we know.

Has anyone seen the BRET Team yet?

I think the only way Mitch will get a start this year is if injuries kick in, dont think his high on Tims pecking order. although i disagree.

**Sheens doesn't like him**. He didn't even get named it the 18 for this weekend. Unless he is missing a leg and has been omitted due to injury, brown could have a long season wait for his chance for a game

Thats a big call… I dont think its personal!

Cant be other wise he would have been silly to extend his contract by a further season. Brown is a solid First grader and would be in the top 17 of almost any other club at the mo.

He is just down the order at the moment as Moltz was a little while back.

I like Brown as a player as he always shows "Good Intent"

He has won us a couple of games over the last couple of seasons a good reliable player !

He's coming back from a hamstring injury, and they're not the type of injury you want to rush a player back from.

I think Mitch is a solid - professional and underrated footballer - but like Watto I struggle to see how so many people seem to think he is an undiscovered gem!!!

As seen above he was given the chance to shop aroung last year and had no takers - despite this insistence he would walk into other 17s!!

He would not replace any first-string backliners at the following clubs:

Manly
Melbourne
Parramatta
Souths
Newcastle
Canterbury
Penrith
Canberra
Brisbane
Warriors
Gold Coast
St George-Illawarra
Cowboys
Cronulla

That only leaves the Roosters - but Mitch is not Brian Smith's style of player (as he needs individual brilliance to subsidise and distract from his lack of tactical coaching prowess) - and the Roosters are banking on their explosive young kids like Moga to rise to the top grade in 2012!

So where is this guaranteed top grade start so many of you seem to think is a fait accompli????

If your theory is right, Orr should be pushing Brown to go elsewhere….but hes stating hes basically happy
He knows were hes at in the pecking order

Its a strange situation because Sheens chased him twice to sign him

He missed out when Brown decided to resign with the Sharks for 2 seasons back in 2008

We have threads on Brown and Teddy t. Wow!! Bring on the season proper and the Sack Sheens threads

I'll be very suprised if Mitch is with us after this year. I think this year will be the same as last year for him. He'll jag a bench spot in a few games and if there are injuries he'll push his way into the starting side, but he won't be there if we are at full strength. A side like the Sharks who have no decent outside backs would realy benefit having a player like him around. And he deserves to be somewhere where he'll be in the strongest 17

Please don't get me wrong, I like the way brown plays. Solid and confident, if he is injuried, I can understand him not playing. That is a fair point. But it could also be something else off field that we don't know about. He is a good footballer. Any team would want him, ( even just as a back up), my read of it is sheens sees something missing from Browns game that means that Brown can't jag a permanent position. This is not a sack sheens comment, just I don't think sheens just doesnt like all of what brown has to offer. I feel for brown.

I'll give it away if Brown is fit and not picked at fullback. He has served his time well and we need a good solid start to the season - what happens after that we can look at then

Brown won't know if he's coming or going, the same was done to poor old Geoff Daniela and a few others. It's the Sheens way…...

Pretty much the same comment in 3 separate threads now. It's obvious you're not a Sheens fan, but if you're trolling for a response you've come to the wrong place.
