Which Halves Combo- Poll

No point playing Anasta at 6\. He is not the solution moving forward so might as well try actual viable options. Anasta has to play 13, second rower or utility, not five-eighth! No way!

Can Moses get a run in 1st grade? Or is he ineligible?

Moses might be small but so was Benji when he started. I'd punt on him and stick with him for at least 4-6 rounds - rather than the alternative of getting Brooks comfortable with Anasta and then bringing in someone else. Anasta at 6 is a recipe for disaster. Even Austin is better than Anasta. Seriously!

Not convinced Brooks needs an experienced 5/8\. Can obviously understand the theory behind it, but my concern would be that it keeps him in his shell a bit and also that a guy like Anasta might overplay his role, hogging the last play options. Don't forget Brooks will have Robbie telling where to be and what play to run. Just might be a bit confusing having two senior players in his ear.

I still remember his debut where Anasta took the first two kicks in goal to just hand the ball over. Brooks first short kick gave us a repeat set and he continued that trend all game.

At their best I would have Brooks and Moltzen, with Moltzen in a support role allowing Brooks to dominate the halves.

I tend to like the idea of a totally fresh look halves combo though with Austin and Brooks allowing for a proper sharing of the duties.

Then theres the size factor with Sirro. If we don't dominate in the forwards we may need his size at 5/8 to balance out the team a bit.

Just gotta wait for the trials and the opening games of the season, but no matter what I want Brooks on as many last play's as possible without becoming the only playmaker and a target for oppositions.

dont want anasta or molzten any where near 1ST grade hope they both retire before the start of the season. the side that has been put up has no hope , as blair regardless of what people think will be in the starting line up, and young sirro will get a run of the bench, its great to have choices.

Unfortunately Anasta has reached the past it stage. He would do the club and himself best by retiring from playing and taking up a specialist coaching role.

Agreed. Braith was the biggest disappointment of this season, he offered absolutely nothing. Give him 3 games maximum to prove he deserves a spot in the side (only at 5/8) and if he doesn't make a go of it, drop him and put Sirro at 5/8, at least he will handle the defensive side of the position much better than Moltzen.

Austin is the unknown, he will have the spotlight on him in the trials, hope he steps up.

unfortunately i cant see that austin has an amazing amount to offer at 6 for us. So far he has been okay at best, maybe good on ocassion, but the fact is he has been continuously selected in Penrith NSW Cup for a year behind average 5/8s after coote was injured round 2 vs us

id like to see moltz try out his running game, which was great for us in 2010/11\. defence was average at best and high ball was poor. But i think it could work.

otherwisee, go for austin if it fails miserably.

I must admit, I didn't really know too much about Austin before we signed him. Like most I kept tabs on where he was at in State Cup for the remainder of 2013 and must say I was pretty impressed, especially with his form through the finals. He reminded me so much of Kieran Foran - runs at the line, has a neat short kicking game, and can set up space for his outside men. It'll complement Brooks' long kicking game.

He also seems really determined to make the most of this opportunity at a new club, and I think this will bring the best out of him.

Overcoming a second ACL will be his biggest test pHyR3

He really struggled the first time around and he will lose some speed and mobility

definitely, forgot to mention that. But we'll have a good indication before round 1 of where he is at in terms of that through trials and 9s if he gets a run.

Really hard decision to be honest. All these players are quite different and offer a different game.

I had to go with Blake Austin though mainly because he's young and very very hungry. He can also play in the back row which indicates he can hit hard if he needs to and from what I've heard he's a good playmaker. The idea of two fresh new halves really appeals to me as Potter can mold their playmaking to the way he wants. Farah plays almost like a half anyway so I think his experience will be enough for young brooks.

I've actually always thought Moltzen would make an excellent running 5/8\. Only problem is that he is still coming back from doing his ACL and would be better served having a few games in NSW cup first. I reckon Anasta and Moltzen should pair together in NSW cup and provide as backup if Brooks or Austin get injured.

Luke Brooks and Benji Marshall, looks a whole lot better than any of those combinations…. Only dreamin'.

Couldn't agree more

Benj will go alright in union I reckon. Hes a good player with a halfback, I still saw glimpses of it in 2013

No way I would want Brooks to enter his full 1st grade year with both Farah and Marshall in the side. The game against Dragons was Benji looking after Brooks, but I wouldn't count on that for a full season.

I thought it was more brooks looking after the team & benji chiming in whenever. It's a lot of pressure on the kid but I'm really looking forward to seeing the new era.
