Which player would you prefer?

Great original post and agree with most of your picks.
Loving the fact that this has turned into a hodgo v teddy debate (or a favourite wests/tigers fullback debate).
Teddy might go down amongst the great FB's but for now my favourite is easily Garry Jack.
Brasher wasn't half bad either. Hodgo inspirational, a legend.

Moses TMM
Moses is the future captain, future NSW/Aus player - just an absolute superstar in the making.

Aloiai Sironen
Aloiai has already shown more than Curtis ever has.

We're hyping Suli,
He hasn't done ANYTHING.
JAC is better, at present.
Suli can be anything though.

A couple of years ago Sironen was a super star in the making. SHould be considered for SOO and test selection. That did not work out so well. Don't count your chickens. Potential is often a dirty word in describing first graders

Totally agreed. Is anyone else annoyed that we seem to have more trouble then Melbourne in keeping our top 4? I have had at least 3 seasons where the focus has been resigning Tedesco, Moses and Brooks.

Woods is not in this category and has earned his money. Tedesco at least has proven himself on the field. But as a fan I am sick of our 1.2+ million dollar half combination that gets us to 9th place each season. Man DCE was on either $60,000 or $80,000 when he started at Manly and for a season after that.

Totally get what JT and Wests are doing. Totally get that we need to build our halves from scratch into a good pairing and that we need to fend other clubs off. I totally get it, I just hate that we have to pay over a million just to keep our juniors sitting tight. Both Brooks and Moses are turnstyles, if were going to have these prolongued contract discussions I would rather we take Blake Austin and TMM. I would be glad to be wrong and see WT end up with an Andrew Johns/Brad Fittler style halves pairing I just hate that we have had to pay full loading for 3 seasons to even see if it will eventuate.

I know it's a good debate. I haven't heard Tim Brasher mentioned in ages.
Garry Jack 1982-1992 pld 244, with 62 tries… Average 0.25 tries per game
Tim Brasher 1989-1997 pld 185 with 82 tries ... average 0.44 tries per game
Brett Hodgson pld 102 with 38 tries and 317 goals.. Average 0.37 tries per game (and probably 3 goals per game).
James Tedesco pld 69 with 45 tries. Average 0.65 tries per game.
Franklin McMillan pld 197 (balmain and wests combined), scored 8 tries... named on team of the century ???WTF?
(all stats from wikipedia.)

Look none of those stats say anything really. Were not counting try assists, defensive efforts, etc.
Hodgson is an absolute champion and punted from our club too soon. But looking at Tedesco's raw try scoring stats... the future looks bright.

Hodgo IMO matches everything Tedesco has got except for pace. Defusing high balls, courage, support play etc they are nearly on par with each other. Tenacity in defence and goalkicking go in Hodgo's favour. Hopefully Tedesco gets to be a premiership winning FB in his time at WT also. Both great players.

You're forgetting strength. Tedesco is as strong as an ox. He shrugs defenders off like flies.

I think a gd comparison with our great fullbacks would be that Tedesco is in the mould of a Minichello…..and I stated this before that Moyland is nearly a carbon copy of our Hodgo.

Tedesco is already better than Hodgson.

Different style players Stryker

I'd wait until their entire careers are finished before making comparisons

Both champions players

Agree. Given his size, Hodgson was one of the toughest players I have seen. Got belted every week and kept getting up. He would blow away in a strong breeze!
Teddy is exciting any time he is near the ball.

I think he is a mix of Jack and Brasher. He is strong and fast, able to push defenders off and break through the line. Although i dont recall either of them being ball players like Teddy.

Hodgo was just pure determination, pound for pound is a legend of a full back.

I reckon that Teddy/Mini comparison is spot on!

We would be very lucky if Teddy had the career of Mini. 😛ray:

Italians make great fullbacks, who knew?!

Belcher was the ball playing fullback and a very good one at that. Jack was an outstanding defensive fullback with pace. Slater the best I've seen while Darius Boyd played an outstanding game last night which is what you expect of an Aust Rep.

Gotta be some joke about being more comfortable behind the front line…

My picks: Tedesco (and Garry Jack was my childhood tiger idol!)
Moses easy
Sironen. I think people are swayed by his last few years. At the same stage Aloiai is now Sironen looked like he could be anything.

Joe cool John Dorahy and Alan McMahan where pretty handy fullbacks while on the subject .. we have produced plenty of good ones.

not that it matters, but garry jack did start at wests.

and keith barnes played a lot on the wing for with australia and balmain.

They were all good players but Tedesco is easily the best player out of all of them.
