Italians make great fullbacks, who knew?!

**Gotta be some joke about being more comfortable behind the front line…**

My picks: Tedesco (and Garry Jack was my childhood tiger idol!)
Moses easy
Sironen. I think people are swayed by his last few years. At the same stage Aloiai is now Sironen looked like he could be anything.

That's the french.

I wouldn't swap Brooks or Moses for TMM. After watch Round 1\. TMM makes Brooks look like Andrew Johns in defence .
If we thought our halves had problems in defence ,many other teams like Penrith , Titians, Bulldogs, Souths have bigger defensive issues in the halves than us.

It's the Italians.

Its all about having the right balance, Moses and TMM both play similar games so it would be pointless having them as a pair. On the other hand Brooks and Moses compliment each other, one is a flashy playmaker with a great passing game and Brooks probably has a better running game and is more of a support player

not that it matters, but garry jack did start at wests.

and keith barnes played a lot on the wing for with australia and balmain.

Take you up on that "eyewonder" - missed get misted over as the years go by but….

I don't think I missed a game that Keith "Golden Boots" Barnes played for Balmain in all those years he played for Balmain. I do not recall ever seeing him picked on the wing.

He may have played x amount of minutes when injured during the odd game, or a game on the 1959 Kangaroo tour of England when he was captain but that would be about it.

In my opinion a great defensive full back in later years - only when he came back from England with Clive Churchill coaching him - Only in my opinion, the greatest goal kicker of all time bar none.

Agree with Moses, Suli and Aloiai.

Agreed Russell i can never recollect "golden boots" Barnes ever selected on the wing for the tigers he was undoubtedly the safest fullback that we ever had, like Garry Jack he came from the illawarra region though Jack had 1 year at the magpies before he came to us.I can remember Barnes kicking us to wins with his goalkicking pity we dont seem to have anyone at the club these days who can teach goalkicking to a decent level.

oops- did he play on the wing for australia so chang could play fulback.?

apologies,russell,time can kill brain cells.

As immortal as Chang is, I don't think his selection ever pushed Barnes from fullback to wing.

6\. TMM
7\. Moses

Every club in the NRL was chasing Martin except the tigers…i watched almost every NYC game because of TMM

No I don't think so "eyewonder," when Changa wasn't picked as a full back he tended to play in the centres from memory, however he was not included in this Kangaroo Tour.

I think there were a few Full backs picked on that tour - Don Parrish, Darryl Chapman and Brian Carlson spring to mind, plus KB of course. Carlson was used on the wing quite a lot in place of Irvine who from memory was injured early in the tour and I think Johnny Riley played on the wing in one test as well.
