Which team will get the 18th Franchise

apart from being a political stunt(plz no,not another squirrel hoarding nuts thread) just dont see the $$$$ making sense from PNG,its the national sport n all,id guess south island Nz or SE Firehawks, qld, imo had the better profile $,future population, bit like our outer Wests than the Fins
You’re being too logical M, this decision is not about logic, it’s about politics.
Like not making Scumbag Joyce come back and face the music, or Dictator Dan down here causing all sorts of shit and then sneaking out the back door.
Makes me sick and furious just thinking about it.

Adelaide Rams.
I may be on my own here but I think the "National" rugby league comp should be exactly that. I wouldn't even have UNzud in it. I think its actually hurting their national league by attracting all their best players here.
Look Adelaide don't care about NRL>

From all I have travelled there and all I have seen. It's AFL territory rivaling Melbourne.
Also Soccer, Soccer is kinda bigger there.

Climate is too hot for NRL.

Perth, there are NRL fans there. They are dedicated. It would be great if Qantas would sponsor them or something... I would like to see the Perth Jets, not the Bears. North Sydney deserve a reincarnation (knew guys with NS Bears tattoo's) but not seeing a North Syd team.

PNG team, BRING IT ON!
PukPuk/Crocodiles would be my choice.

I wasn't really serious about Adelaide. From memory i was just throwing it out because I think i'm funny........
I do however stand by my belief that it should be an Aussie team. I know that's not a popular opinion but it's still mine!

The 'base them in Cairns' idea sounds good if you're trying to attract Australian players who don't want to live in Moresby, but I think they would be far better off trying to develop domestic talent in PNG. There's so much untapped potential there, 10 million league mad people who are hard as nails.

2nd NZ Team for mine. Makes so much more sense than the other bids. Talent pool, added rivalry, funding non-issue, etc.

Major concerns with the other bids;

Perth - Logistics. 5 hr flight from Sydney. 7 hours from NZ. That's approximately 10+ hours of flying for every away game. Largely AFL town. Climate debatable for League.

PNG/Cairns - PNG itself, too politically unstable, both locally and on a government level; any PNG government-backed bids would have a longevity question mark attached to them. Cairns climate way too hot for a League season imo.

Central Coast/Bears - Doable, but if expansion is truly expansion, then geographic location needs to be a consideration and the density of rugby league in NSW is already at capacity as many others have said.

3rd Brisbane Team - South East QLD reaching saturation levels, but a possibility. It's a much smaller region than Greater Sydney, in terms of population and geography (if you extend up to Gosford and down to Wollongong). Also a waste of a geographical expansion opportunity similar to above.

I know there's plenty of for and against arguments for these points.

Sunshine Coast is a massively expanding area I think could be a good option
