Who is Matt Groat?

Has anybody even heard of this guy? Looks like McKinnon isn't playing anymore, Beau Ryan is starting at FB and this Matt Groat is now on the bench. Any word?

Groat is a prop who plays in the NYC but has also played for BRET
 
He has pretty much played in every rep team in his age division ever. He's an Australian schoolboys captain. He's one of the best front row prospects the game has seen in years.

McKinnon did his hammy before kick off, we had to call up a Toyota Cup player.

As for people calling him a nobody, who were you expecting? Who would you have called up at the last minute? Did you think Andrew Johns would play for us instead of calling the game from the sideline?

TBH he probably should be ahead of Murdoch-Masila and Schirnack. He played NYC before the game today and made 12 hit ups and 20 tackles. Played 6 minutes in NRL and made 2 pretty strong hit-ups. He's only 18 as well and we already have Dwyer, Fifita, Murdoch-Masila, Woods and Schirnack as very young forwards. To squeeze another in there would be fraught with danger. He'll be thereabouts real soon.

I don't see why you're sooking about him being selected though? We had to put an NYC player in there. I probably would have expected Simona though.

Yes, lots of us have heard of him and seen him play strongly in 4 -5 games this year for U20s. He's a terrific prospect.
