Had a little chuckle when I read a quote by John Cartwright saying that the signing of Greg "Hitman" Bird will win the Titans a Title….....

It got me thinking.........Which player/s in the NRL can actually deliver....... that is ...... win you a Premiership?

Do we have any at the Wests Tigers?

I'd like to think Farah and Benji are two that could.......

but gee.....Greg Inglis would be nice....

Opinions?

Galloway and Ellis are the two guys for me.

Great forwards can make average halves look great, th case is not the same in reverse

Benji can certainly do it for the Tigers, as can Farah. We've both seen them break games open and who will forget Benji's flick pass to big Pat with the scores locked up at 6-6 close to halftime in the 2005 GF. Ellis has it in him too with his defence and strong running.

Inglis would be good so would Hayne! For us i rekon Marshall holds the key he is just such a talented player and when he plays well every one lifts.

Irrelevent of how good a player is, or how unique, the one thing that makes a player a premiership winner is the ability to fire under pressure. Lockyer, Thurston, Inglis, Smith. These are the guys who will win you a competition.

I think Bird can help win them a GF could be their missing link.

For us its Benji without him we dont make the final 8 let alone the GF

Bird does fire in big games, he has several origin man of the match awards. Although his discipline may be a bit of a worry, he can give away dumb penalties.

Hey Geo, yeah I think he could be mate, I mean the bloke is far from being a mug…he is an international, a playmaker and a tough bugger. I would have prefered him to our recruits.
Titans seem so close yet so far and for a talented roster are in need of someone with Birds credentials. If he can get his head back in the game after all the crap then he could very well be smilin next October.

I agree with Stryker,
I think that bird could add the aggression and mongrel that the Titans have lacked over the past couple of years. They have some very skilful backs with plently of pace, not to mention Princy and Cambell in the halves. i think Bird might just be what theyve been looking for..
Hopefully Im wrong though and Titans do nothing next year.

I am very interested to see how Bird goes actually. I am not sure if he is the 'be all and all' for the Titans though. We will find out…

We need a clutch player. Like a Brett Stewart, Greg Inglis, Darren Lockyer last minute roll the dice and come up sevens type. As it is the Benji Lawrence combo goes okay in that regard. I could really see Ayshford stepping up tbh.

JOHNATHAN Thurston has held secret talks with Sydney clubs in the most definitive sign yet the Cowboys superstar is considering quitting North Queensland.
>
Thurston held preliminary discussions with at least two clubs last week during a stopover in Sydney. While no figures were discussed, Thurston's decision to sound out potential suitors underlines the battle the Cowboys face to keep the Test No 7 beyond next year.
>
Thurston spent four weeks holidaying in Europe before flying to Sydney to attend Danny Green's fight with Roy Jones Jr. Off-contract at the end of 2010, Thurston has been repeatedly linked with his former club, the Bulldogs, and has received a $1.1 million offer to play rugby in Japan.
>
Thurston's manager Sam Ayoub confirmed the meetings but refused to reveal the identity of the clubs. "Johnathan did have some discussions with some interested parties in Sydney," Ayoub said. "I won't name any clubs, if they wish to do so that's their prerogative, but Johnathan is determined not to play this contract out in the public arena. There is a lot of interest, but we didn't talk numbers and there were no formal offers. It was more a case of Johnathan weighing up his options."

While Thurston has made it clear he will test the open market, Ayoub said the Cowboys skipper would prefer to have his future sorted by the season kick-off in March.
>
North Queensland remain confident they can outbid any rival for Thurston. Cowboys executive director Peter Parr has spent three months sourcing third-party sponsorships and is set to table the most lucrative deal in the club's 14-year history, worth around $500,000 a season.
>
The 26-year-old is seeking a term between two to four years. Ayoub met Parr last week, and insists Thurston will give the Cowboys every opportunity to retain him. "Ideally Johnathan would like to settle his future before the start of next season, but if he does that he might be ignoring some opportunities that might come later in the year," Ayoub said.

Ayoub…Isn't that Robbie Farah's agent........

Thurston........Hmmm....i'm sure we could fit him in.......

I bet it will be Thurston >>>>>>>>>Manly or Parra.........
