Who Would You Pick In The Forwards?

The main opinion expressed in the Forum is that two things have been contributing to our poor performances:-

1\. Our forwards seem to be lacking aggression in attack and defence.

2\. Our general defence is not up to last year's standard.

Excluding the players currently injured, who would you pick as the starting six and the three bench forwards (Under Sheen's one back on the bench system)?

I think that re-shuffle is about on the money Cunno.

The aggression issue is not just with our forwards. Our line speed has been atrocious this season. They rarely advance a metre or two let alone move with any fervour or aggression

That's my pick cunno. Sign Mason and he can take the #17 jersey.

4 forwards on the bench is the way to go. Having a back on the bench has no use and the extra forward will allow all of our forwards to deliver a quality performance whilst putting in less minutes on the field, rather than pushing themselves to the point the become ineffective.

8\. Moors
9\. Farah
10\. Woods
11\. Blair
12\. Ellis
13\. Heighington

14\. Groat
15\. Bell
16\. Fulton

or

8\. Blair
9\. Farah
10\. Woods
11\. Murdoch-Masila
12\. Ellis
13\. Heighington

14\. Groat
15\. Bell
16\. Moors
17\. Fulton

8\. Bell
9\. Robbie
10\. Woods
11\. Blair
12\. Ellis
13\. Rhino

14\. Groat
15\. BMM
16\. Moors
17\. Fulton

At this stage, either Groat or Woods dropping out for Sauce when he comes back.

Bell isnt a starting Prop… He is simply doing his job and completing a role. He hasnt done anything to suggest he should get a promotion. Bench rotation is too important!

Woods and Groat are two very promising young forwards. The are gaining great experience being our two starting props. This will benefit the team at the business end of the season. I'd keep them there until Galloway returns.

Problem is we don't really have a starting prop , Watto.
Woods was put there prematurely and Groat is only there through necessity.
At present we have ONE prop with any real first grade experience (and he's on the bench)
Perennial favourites Fulton and Heighington are playing like reserve graders as are our real reserve graders.
Only Farah and Blair look like they are trying.
Hopefully the return of Ellis will lift them a bit this week (and maybe the signing of Mason) and Galloway won't be far away either.
By the way has anyone else NOT heard of a strained ligament in your big toe keeping anyone out this long or at all?

Honestly, Farah and Blair (along with the two dragons players) should be having the week off….. if (and it is just about the biggest IF you can find) the judicary is consistent. So in saying that...in brackets if by some miracle Blair and Farah don't miss a week.

8\. Woods
9\. Fulton (Farah)
10\. Bell
11\. BMM (Blair)
12\. Ellis
13\. Heighington

14\. Groat
15\. Moors
16\. ???? (BMM)

Blair needs to play some prop. Get him running direct and into the game. When he plays next.

If Lote is back, then Reddy to the bench to play backrow. We are up against it here. And I think we'll see just what the Tigers are made of against a Raiders side that has some injury issues of it's own.

Woods
Farah
Bell
Fulton
Blair
Ellis (would make a great lock)

BMM (impact player when switched on)
Moors (big fan of Junior Moors)
Groat (give him time to develop his game)

No room for Heighington. Great servant but he offers the same as Fulton and Fulton to mine is a better attacking option and great defender. Both players hardly break the line.

given how under strength our pack is at the moment, u can't drop heighington.

i think Bell has to start. he cleans up around the middle of the ruck, exactly where we got carved up straight through the middle on the weekend.

he won't make 20 hit ups and 200m a game, but his 30 tackles in the middle (and more if given more game time) will be invaluable

move ellis to left side.
we have always been more potent with ellis on the left.

move blair to lock

fulton and rhino interchange the right side.
rhino has always played his best at second row and not lock.he is better used in space and targets backs well.tip toes too much with compressed lines up the guts.

we have gotten away from playing to players strengths.

start with bell and woods.

Love the sound of that change up bon.

Though with Farah out I expect Fulton to interchange at hooker.

Plus I think Ayshford would work really well with Moors and his offload style

you know i totally forgot about farah and the chance of him being charged.i erased all memory of friday night.
and now just saw the thread on him coping 2 weeks if he takes the plea.

yep,agree with your added points.

Why isn't Ronald McDonald over in NZ scoutingthere lower grades for a couple of lads that have soom size..Signing Mason is a bit of a joke when you have masses of huge Kiwis wanting a break you would get more out of someone like that than Mason and for peanuts for the chance.

godd idea but they will still need time before they go to f/g , mason has the experience and is in trainning so he is fit , he would come of the bench after 15 / 20 min
