Why are the mods so uptight and deprived of a sense of humor

I use this forum as a supporter of the Wests Tigers. This stuff gets in the way of good discussion.
I thank the admin who take the time to keep this running.
Hooking up with people does not belong here, use facebook so your friends can read about it.

I'm divided on this, part of me says whover set the forum up can make the rules, if u don't like it thenset your own up.

However the other part says it's an unofficial forum, not associated with anything…so who cares! Let everyone post what they want! Who are the mods to say what's offensive and what's not? We're in a free country and persoanlly it offends me that someone is offended by reading 'i hooked up with someone' i mean c'mon, seriously!

Sometimes I think people make rules up for the sake of having rules

Like you say there are plenty of other forums to dicuss whatever floats your boat…

Ron's post was deleted cause it was reported as offensive to another user of this site..not a mod..not a gripe against Ron personally....Just like other posts that get deleted..We want this site to be a place where people can discuss things I think all who come here are passionate about..The Wests Tigers,,,,.There are plenty of forums where anything goes...Abuse of players Coaching staff, fellow forum members...that's why we have rules in place.....your right it's a free country...ironic that your offended by someone who found something offensive.....

It's pretty simple if you don't like it....http://forums.leagueunlimited.com/forumdisplay.php?f=86" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Are we so up tight that has it been posted anyway......

well the post didn't offend me, but posting the "supposed" phone number of the person in question was just stupid.

98% of posts don't have to be approved by a moderator
99.9% of posts are approved or allowed to be posted
only a very small number of posts are either deleted or not approved and it's always for a valid legal or moral reason.

FYI - all posts that are deleted are reviewed by the mod team after they are deleted. Almost every one is discussed and debated with all opinions and reasons taken into account. The debate can get quite heated at times, again highlighting how blurry the line really is.

At the end of the day, i'm confident that what gets deleted or edited is something that needs to be either legally or morally removed. Since we are only talking about a handful of posts then I guess that it's a pretty good result. I've only had to ban one person too, again another good result. This shows that the mod team are not here to be dictators or douchebags, but to ensure that a bit of a standard is set + to make sure the site doesn't degrade into a cesspool like LU.com

From memory, the only posts to really be deleted include **personal attacks**, **private information**, **abuse**, **allegations without acceptable proof and alike**, **swearing** and **spam**
Is that unfair?
I don't think so.

However, what concerns me is the fact that it's always the same people that have their posts deleted.

Question: in your opinion ron (and others), how can we do our jobs better? What would you improve if you had the chance?

Gee….whats happening?
I'm finding myself siding with Ron here.

Bloody hell...if 25% of the people on here find "I hooked up...." offensive, you really gotta wonder why their on the internet at all in the first place...with all the nasties you find on here.

Imagine if they found 4chan…

I thought, with the Forum Rules and the whole Mod and Admin thing, that it was clear the forum was a dictatorship and not an open democracy.

Think it's time to accept that. Or go to a forum that doesn't have these issues.

You are here BY CHOICE.

I for the first time in hundreds of post was deleted today kul for trying to reply to an arrogant post from moderator chris which I DID NOT START BUT WAS HAPPY TO FINISH PLEASE DONT IMPLY THAT I AM ONE OF THESE PEOPLE WHO ARE ALWAYS DELETED.

Kul is not implying that at all. You've already received your warning for abusing one of the moderators and you made more than one post attacking him - We have your posts on record to prove this. The rules and guidelines are clear. Chris did not abuse you in any way, his original post still stands if you want to re-read what he posted.

This is pathetic… All they are saying is use some common sense and tact when you post... simple. If you don't like the way admin runs the forum, start your own or go elsewhere.

When Kul, Mighty Tiger and Kaiser started these forums they did so with a view to be slightly more relaxed than what the official forums have been. For example, the Contract Discussion forum there is a sticky there titled "Rumor, Comings and Goings…." This thread enables people to discuss certain rumors they have heard in their travels. I can tell you now that in the old forums something like this would never be allowed. I speak for myself when I say that in these forums, depending on how tasteful and in what context it is used I have allowed swearing and connotative swearing slide or would edit to save the post but in the old forums I would instantly delete the post and send the poster a warning.

These are a couple of examples of how these forums are more relaxed and there are more out there as well which makes it clearly evident that the ideology Kul, Mighty Tiger and Kaiser had in mind is definitely in place. If we allowed people to post whatever they wanted the club, players and coaching staff would have most people here in court on slander and defamation charges.

There is one certain forum that was closed down and being investigated because of the content in those forums. Do you want that to happen here? If you do I suggest you start your own.

Because of the content of your post I can't bring it into the main forum but if you feel that strongly about this, PM me and would be more than happy to break it all down to you so you can fully understand and comprehend why your posts had been deleted.

READ MY POST DO YOU UNDERSTAND AND COMPREHEND THEM.I CAN SAY THAT I DONT HAVE MISPLACED ARROGANCE CAN YOU CHRIS.

Wow… Like Kul asked... **if anyone has any ideas on what we can do to give the users here a better expirience, we are all ears. I, just like Kul sincerely mean that.** We have put ALOT of work and time into this site and only want the best for every member.

Without weighing into the arguement too much, please keep in mind that we have a very active forum. While you might feel something isn't offensive, others may. This is something you need to respect Ron. I am by all means a very easy going person and have very relaxed views on many things in life, but when push comes to shove, this is a community... in which it is much larger than me and my own personal beliefs, as it is yours.

We would love to keep everyone here happy and welcome... We want it to be a family friendly site, were people of all ages can enjoy.

If you find being apart of this community difficult, I am sorry, but we won't change the rules for one individual.

Magpie Mania.

I am not weighing into this debate you are having with Chris. However take this as a final warning on an issue I recieve countless complaints about. Keep typing in all caps lock and you will find yourself on moderator preview. It is annoying, hard on the eyes and complained about numerous times

Yeah just like my post should of.To say I attacked him pft please is this a football forum or a babydoll forum I think by the majority of the post on this thread I have been vindicated in saying that ''SOME'' moderators (one in particular and no not you willow have misplaced arrogance.I WILL HUMBLY ACCEPT VICTORY AND MOVE ON IM DONE ARGUING.

I remember first internet forum I signed up for. Was so into the heated discussion. Came up against a mod once and he banned me, so i signed back on from a different i.p., causing a big fuss.

I was 13 though! Point of the story, one day you'll realise what happens on the internet doesn't really matter to anyone, anywhere! and there are more entertaining things than getting into power struggles to stroke your own ego. The mods do a good job here so lets be happy, talk about the tigers and if you need a hobby go find another one so when occasional users like me log-on I don't have to read a few peacocks showing off their tails in almost every thread.

Your not weighing into the debate but after writing in caps lock for over six months with not the slightest word you are now giving me this warning five minutes after my last post slightly coincidental wouldnt you say.Perhaps I can become an advisor to you moderators.

It's not a recent thing, your typing style has been discussed amongst us moderators for a long time now. We have been moderating these forums for a long time now and I think we know what we are doing but your offer is appreciated, thanks all the same.
