Can someone please tell me why one of the premier centers in our game is not getting clean early ball???

Why do we ALWAYS go left to Talau and Kepaoa, when we have Roberts and Nofo on the right?

Madge hasnt impressed me since being here at the club. This is just another example of his questionable coaching.

For goodness sake throw the ball to Roberts!

According to Hobbo he just has to cart it up...

From dummy half !
What’s your answer Mr Miyagi?

Get him ball when we have the opposition on the back foot. How often does that happen?

Brooks can only pass one way

He seemed Ok when he passed left to right to put Liddle and Stefano away. Both passes looked perfect actually.

Go on, make up some more rubbish.

I’m talking a real pass to the right ..

You know like a cut out 20-25 meters ..
Please provide me with evidence that Brooks can pass a decent ball from left to right .

No thanks, I am not chasing your moving goal posts. You are not worth arguing with.

I’m a big fan of madge, but would love to know if our obsession with going left is team strategy. It makes no sense. Nofa will be lucky to score half a dozen tries this year . And seriously how many 2 on 1s did we create and they don’t pass the ball. Drove me crazy today .

Tigers went wide left 15 times and right 14 times. Source: I just re-watched and counted. AD and DL showed good signs showing up on left, middle and right to create different attacking shapes.

To be honest, I've never got the hype around James Roberts. I think he's shockingly overrated and overpaid. He is a "flat track bully" of a centre. Give him the perfect conditions on a perfect day and he might, just MIGHT, break the line and show the speed that he, supposedly, has.

He's not an instinctive fooballer, at all. It's interesting to read the comments Tommy Talau is copping in other posts after yesterday. One is a kid growing into his body and his career, the other is a seasoned NRL veteran. I think their relative contributions to the team, so far in 2021, have been about the same. That reflects poorly on Roberts.

Overpaid?

He looks likely to break the line every time he gets the ball - the issue is he doesn’t get the ball enough. He and Laurie are our only strike players from 1-5.

And he’s on close to minimum wage so I’m confused by your overpaid comment.

None of our backs get early ball.

That said, Roberts looks unfit and is running sideways too much.

He looks busted and disinterested
Then again he’s not on his own

he picked the right club then

Early ball won't help Roberts

We need structured attack and creating space from set plays and creating holes and overlaps

You clearly have never watched JTJ play.

I have .......he isn't playing at the Souths and Brisbane sides he was playing with when they had massive rolls off the back of amazing forward packs ...I can't see the WT's putting the top sides on the back foot creating that much space ...can you ......we need to be relying on Brooks ,Douehi and to a lesser extent Laurie getting on the outside of defenders and creating space that way ....

Bugger that, why is Roberts not offloading after he has drawn the opposition and before he gets into trouble. Its got to be evident to all that he would have less defenders on him if he at least put them in two minds about what he intends to do, instead of dummying and attempting to burn through the line with speed.
Less defenders on him would at least give him more opportunity to weave his magic and show a clean pair of heels.

I still think that problem is Nofa ..without picking on Nofa he could decide to do anything as far as coming inside ....Kepaoa is far better suited on Roberts side ...he sticks to the sideline and it just supports Roberts game ..he can try and get outside his opposing centre and draw the opposition winger in

The two big moments for me were

1) Not putting his foot into touch for the kickoff.

2) Getting taken over the sideline from the scrum on tackle 1.

No brains.

He looks like he’s always hungover to me .

I don't get the negativity towards Roberts here. Remember that centres usually look bad in beaten teams because so much of their play depends on momentum, but I think despite all that he's look great this year. He's getting very little ball on a team that is getting comfortably beaten in most matches and still looks threatening every time he does get a chance. And most importantly he's looked good defensively, which was his big weakness elsewhere. In a rubbish season I've loved watching him play and I can't believe people are questioning his effort. I know he's had trouble off the field but I'd really like to see him given a couple more years. If he continues this form his price tag will only go up. Doueihi, Laurie, Nofo and Roberts make for a promising backline.

lament/if only he wasn't busted,he looks at a ball roll past his feet,is that,he d oesnt do the 1%'s,

Neither of our centres get early ball .. give JTJ early ball gives him room to attack the line with speed .. currently he gets the ball with the defence line on top of him, so becomes an easy target to tackle. Brooks' decision making is too slow and he crabs across field then at the last moment he offloads the ball to JTJ with the defence all over him.

Hence is the reason why both BJ and JTJ come infield to pick the ball up and run from dummy half .. they come searching for the ball .. !!

He was ineffective yesterday, but he was involved.

Hard to soar when you fly with turkeys.

Probably the negativity from yesterday was his complete lack of effort in defence, he was walking to save some of those try's.

I thought his performance yesterday was one that could signal the end of his career. He was fine when he had the ball but the other effort areas in his game were close to non existent.
